Eagle-eyed CAS fans might have spotted a cameo from our full body rig in this awesome Deadpool & Wolverine VFX breakdown from Industrial Light & Magic. In total, we delivered more than 70 character scans, 60 props and over 150 sets for Deadpool & Wolverine, as well as a ton of Dorothy data. We’re going to give you a peep behind the scenes here at Clear Angle Studios, as each week we speak to a different member of staff, find out a little bit about them and what they do to keep the scanning machine running. Huge news! We at Clear Angle Studios are thrilled to announce our partnership with DI4D , the premier independent facial capture and animation provider, and Texturing XYZ, the industry leader in high-resolution skin texture maps and advanced skin processing. Together, we've unveiled a 4D performance capture pipeline which produces per-frame maps at 24 frames per second. This enables the processed data to accurately display real-world detail to a previously unseen level through groundbreaking collaborative advancements. You have to see it to believe it! Really exciting to see the incredible reviews coming out for The Substance, which premiered this week in competition at Cannes. The VFX department used the Dorothy system for 4D performance capture, which not only provides geometry but normal and displacement data for every single frame. We also did a day of prop scanning, all contributing to what sound like some really intense, gruesome scenes. Huge congratulations to all of our friends and colleagues that worked on the final 20 VFX Oscar nominations for 2023! We at Clear Angle Studios were lucky enough to have worked on 10 out of the 20 nominations this year which meant we were lucky enough to have worked with 50% of you fine film makers and VFX'ers out there... Every year is a privilege and we'll cherish this year as much as we have done the last 10 years. Excited to see who makes the shortlisted 10 and then of course the final 5 nominees. Pinewood Futures Festival is a wrap! The film industry is an incredible place to work, but it can be scary or frustrating trying to figure out how to get started. Events like the Futures Festival are so important to shine a light on the huge range of jobs available within the industry and inspire people to pursue a career here. Hopefully we were able to dispense some useful advice and encouragement but, at the very least, some people left having thought about 3D scanning for the first time, and that’s pretty cool too. If you came and spoke to us, it was lovely to meet you and we wish you the best of luck in the future.
