We are saddened to hear of the passing of Neil Faris, a former Managing Partner at Cleaver Fulton Rankin. Neil was an esteemed Commercial Property lawyer and was the first lawyer in Northern Ireland to recognise the importance of environmental law, establishing this now critical area of practice. Our thoughts are with Mary-Frances and Neil’s wider family and friends.
It is with deep regret that the Law Society of Northern Ireland notifies members of the passing of Neil Faris, solicitor on 13th October 2024. Neil was admitted to the Roll in November 1977 and was formerly a Principal with Cleaver Fulton Rankin before setting up his own as a sole practitioner of Neil Faris Solicitors. In later years he joined Hool Law as a Consultant before retiring January 2023. He was a former Commissioner at the Northern Ireland Law Commission Neil and his wife, Mary Frances were regular attendees of the Society's Annual Conference abroad. The Law Society of Northern Ireland offers its deepest condolences to Mary Frances, his family, colleagues, and friends.

We were pleased to join Chambré alongside leaders in the built environment, energy, transport and skills industries to participate in the most recent Policy Eye Northern Ireland Roundtable, focused on improving energy efficiency. A summary and full report on the Roundtable can be accessed here: https://lnkd.in/e_p6He6j #doingmorewithless #energyefficiency #energystrategy
While the focus in the Northern Ireland Executive's recently published draft Programme for Government on decarbonising our new and existing homes is to be welcomed, much more needs to be done to reduce our energy use. This was certainly evident from the discussion at our latest Policy Eye Northern Ireland roundtable. The event brought together senior officials from the NI Departments of Economy, Communities, Infrastructure, Finance and Agriculture, Environment & Rural Affairs, together with sector leaders in the built environment, energy, transportation and skills, to consider the challenges and opportunities we face in using less energy and utilising the energy we do use more efficiently.
