The first phase of the development at the school in Gedling, Nottingham, involved building South Block - a new two-storey building to provide a state-of-the-art performance space, dining hall, 20 new classrooms, office space, and a new main reception which has united the previously split site by linking the East and West buildings. Designed by Welham Architects, South Block has recently been highly commended in the regional LABC Building Excellence Awards. Now the second part of the improvements - extensive alterations and refurbishment in various parts of the existing school, including the conversion of the previous dining area and assembly hall into additional teaching space – has also been completed. It marks the 4️⃣ th project Clegg Construction has undertaken in partnership with the academy during the last 19 years, with previous schemes including the creation of science labs, a resource centre, the refurbishment of a library building, and the construction of a Sixth Form centre. ⚙️ 👷♂️ Other members of the project team included local businesses GNA Surveyors, Moran Structural Consultants Ltd and Integrated Energy Building Services (IEBS). 👷♀️ ⚙️ The development has been funded by Nottinghamshire County Council.

🍃 🖇️ 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗬𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗟𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗣𝗜𝗣𝗘𝗦 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸! 🖇️🍃 Our Spinners Yard build-to-rent scheme in Leeds is now connected to the Leeds PIPES District Heat Network! This is a key milestone for this 185-apartment development, which is being delivered by Clegg in partnership with Rise Homes. 🟢 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀: The network, which is a district heating system linked to Leeds’ energy-from-waste plant, uses a system of underground pipes to transfer heat from where it is generated to where it is needed. It is a key contributor to Leeds City Council's commitment to making Leeds a carbon-neutral city by 2030, helping to reduce emissions by approximately 11,000 tonnes per year. Leeds PIPES already provides affordable, reliable, low-carbon heat and hot water to around 2,000 homes, businesses and public buildings in the area, and will help the future residents of Spinners Yard save money on their energy bills and lower their carbon footprint. 🟢 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁-𝗟 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀: 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 The connection of Spinners Yard to the district heating network will result in the new development - which is due to hand over next year - having a significant improvement on Part L standards. We’re proud to be managing the construction of this exciting and highly sustainable residential scheme, which is contributing to the creation of environmentally-friendly homes that are fit for the future. 🍃 🏢 🔗 For more information about Leeds PIPES, please visit the link in the comments. 🔗 #LoveConstruction #DistrictHeating

Senior Project Manager Roger B. and Design Manager Carl Gaunt recently visited the factory manufacturing the front elevation and vertical feature panels that will be mounted onto Peterborough College’s new Centre for Green Technology. These powder-coated aluminium panels are created to a very high tolerance and must be pristine when fitted, so they have been built off-site in a controlled factory environment ahead of being delivered to site tomorrow. Students and staff returning to the college next week will see the panels being fitted on their new building from Monday onwards. The panels will be lifted in with a spider crane with suction lifters - rather than slings - for a mark-free finish! #LoveConstruction

Last week, the team at our popular student accommodation project in Leeds welcomed visits from Leeds College of Building (LCOB) and Positive Matters Ltd. Year-one joinery students at LCOB underwent a health and safety briefing from senior site manager, Beth, before taking a tour of the site, whilst Peter at Positive Matters Ltd carried out a survey amongst site personnel to help the Considerate Constructors Scheme understand wider construction workforce mental health levels across the country. #LoveConstruction #TheFabricWorks

Did you catch Notts TV’s recent feature on Vision West Nottinghamshire College's new Future Tech Skills and Knowledge Exchange? We love Barchester Healthcare’s Don’t Dine Alone initiative, which sees a range of the organisation’s care homes across the UK helping tackle loneliness by inviting elderly members of their local communities to join them for lunch. One care facility offering this is Highfield Care Home in Tadcaster, Yorkshire, which was constructed by Clegg Construction and opened its doors earlier this year. Elderly people who might usually eat alone are invited to join the home’s residents and team for a three-course meal (followed by games!) on the first Friday of the month.
