Head of Integrated Clinical Services | National Leader | Researcher in Leadership/Management Discourse
Hi everyone! 👋 I'm looking for UK-based Nursing Leaders to participate in my research, and I'd love your help. If you're interested (email me - 19178009@brookes.ac.uk) or share this with your network, I’d be really grateful to hear from you or your colleagues! What is our research about? We are trying to explore the reality of being a nurse leader by reviewing how it is designed in your job description and how it happens in real-life practice. Why does it matter? Together, we can find ways to improve and support the role of nurse leaders. A bit more....? I am a nurse leader working for a charity - Sue Ryder (Jane Turner, Carol Harris) - in palliative and end-of-life care; my background is in the hospital, working as an A&E Nurse, then as an operational nurse manager, and then within quality and governance. I am fascinated by how nursing leadership is taught, explained, and enacted in real life. I wanted to research this interest alongside other nurse leaders to understand nursing leadership more and, from the knowledge we gain, to try and improve it. I will be using a technique called critical discourse analysis to explore what is being said, unpicking the layers of language to understand how the role of the nursing leader is played out in practice across our sample. You? All I need from you is 60 minutes of your time to answer a few questions and for you to share your job description 🙂 Apologies? Chief Nurses! This research isn’t aimed at executive board members. Your role is crucial and deserves exploration from a different perspective. Olga Kozlowska Dr Marion Waite DPhil (Oxon) MSc BA RN RHV SFHEA
