Had an incredible experience attending the Women Automotive Network conference in Stuttgart! It was truly inspiring to be surrounded by so many talented professionals in the industry. One of the most memorable moments for me was meeting Barbara Frenkel Member of Executive Board Purchasing at Porsche. Her journey, filled with resilience and determination, deeply moved me. When asked how she handles being in a room full of sharks, she responded with such confidence: “It helps if you are a shark yourself.” She is truly inspiring! The discussions were equally captivating, from Flex’s session on intuitive decision-making to Kautex Textron’s workshop on unleashing potential by embracing authenticity. Both touched on areas we can all relate to in our careers. Of course, the speakers overall were fantastic, and the awards party afterwards made it a perfect end to the day! COP29 to propose 1.5 TW energy storage target by 2030. This year’s UN Climate Change Conference (which will convene from 11th-22nd November) could adopt a target to increase global energy storage capacity more than sixfold by 2030. In order to achieve this, globally, we would need to add more than 158 GW of energy-storage capacity annually. Although battery storage has not yet reached the deployment speed needed to achieve climate and energy security goals, it surpassed nearly all other clean energy technologies in 2023. This growth was driven by declining costs, technological advancements, and favorable industrial policies that boosted demand. In August, BNEF reported that the stationary storage market has risen 61% in 2024, counteracting the slowdown in the electric vehicles space. In simple terms, a huge increase will be needed in order to meet this target, but this global shift means significant investment opportunities in battery storage tech and infrastructure and will encourage innovation and recycling, in order to reduce waste and create more sustainable energy storage systems globally. #CLMAmericas #cleanenergy #COP29 #BESS #ESS #CLMEurope
