What an incredible evening at Da Coffi, hosting this month's Founders' Dinner in partnership with RBC Brewin Dolphin! 🎉 These dinners are all about fostering connections that drive the growth of the ecosystem, creating opportunities to collaborate with potential partners, support networks, investors, and fellow founders. 🚀 This month’s theme was food and drink, and we were delighted to welcome our friends from Coaltown Coffee Roasters. Founder Scott James shared the inspiring Coaltown journey, from their humble beginnings as Roasted Joes in 2013. In just six months, the brand transformed into what we know today. ☕️ From roasting their first batch of Black Gold Roast in a shed—and winning a Great Taste Award with it—to growing into a thriving roastery and espresso bar in the heart of Ammanford, Coaltown’s story is one of passion and perseverance. 💪 Scott emphasised the importance of brand identity and heritage, sharing how the company drew inspiration from great-grandfather Ben, a miner in the former coal town, which influenced the company’s rebranding. This strong connection to their roots has guided their journey, from a successful e-commerce pivot during COVID-19 to their 2022 Sky TV ad, which catapulted the brand onto the global stage. 🌐 Josh Clarke, Director of Operations at Coaltown Coffee Roasters introduced their limited-edition negroni, a sophisticated twist on the classic cocktail featuring their Anthracite Coffee Liqueur, developed in collaboration with In the Welsh Wind Distillery. To compliment the evening, our talented Da Chef Dylan prepared a two-course meal featuring Coaltown Coffee, showcasing the versatility and distinctive flavour of their products. 💫 The night was filled with fantastic conversations, and it was a true celebration of innovation and collaboration.
