Ruth Walters spent yesterday meeting some of the most influential women in the UK cybersecurity industry at Women in Cyber Wales. Everyone at Code Red is looking forward to picking her brains on the talks and workshops.
Thank you Suzanne Donovan for getting me out and about into the South Wales cyber community yesterday, introducing me to Women in Cyber Wales With the painful backdrop of the latest DSIT report highlighting that the number of women in our sector remains at just 17%, it felt even more important to get together. Thank you Dr Clare Johnson and Natalie Evans for an event that left me equal parts inspired and informed. Valeen Oseh-Ovarah, CSPO you are the most incredible story teller with unrivalled resilience. I loved learning about your roots and current set up. Thanks for the crash course in innovator visas and sharing more about TisOva. So many people in Wales are benefiting from your brilliance and keenness to spread the cybersecurity word amongst women Vibhushinie Bentotahewa. Loved especially hearing about the Year 10 Girls Events and would love to be involved in those in future. Ruth Stockley you taught me things I wasn’t expecting to learn at the event and thanks for outlining your work as an International Trade Adviser. Annabel Berry I was pretty sure I was going to enjoy what you had to say based on our shared love of a Jimmy’s iced coffee - and then the laptop stickers got handed out. I rest my case. You came armed with as many great stats as you did stickers and I’ve thought a lot about “accidental managers” since. Definitely keen to dig deeper into Leading Cyber mentor platform. Thanks to all I met, lots to share back at base with the Code Red team.
