Wow, what an event CogX Festival was this year at the stunning Royal Albert Hall! The day was filled with insightful and thought provoking sessions. A few of my favourites included: AI and the Future of Work: Superchargin Industry Performance AI-Powered Finance: Shaping the Future of Fintech AI for Public Good: How do we Supercharge the UK economy As always, a huge thank you to the CogX team, in particular Charlie Muirhead (CogX) and Sophie Concha (Lake) for such a great event. It was great to network and bump into some familiar faces. Interested in my takeaways from the day? I'd love to hear your thoughts and what you took away from the sessions? #CogX

🌍Insights from CogX Festival 2024 in London! Tom Larter, Sally W., Abi Lamb and James Mclaughlin, joined thought leaders and innovators at CogX to explore the evolving role of AI in shaping the future of work and cybersecurity. One of the key themes was building trust in AI through transparent, responsible frameworks—a critical focus for regulated industries like finance and pharmaceuticals. However, the conversation also shed light on how smaller companies could struggle to comply with initiatives like the EU AI Act, highlighting the need for balance between innovation and regulation. Key takeaways: 👨🏽🏫 AI Upskilling and continuous learning are essential to embrace AI's benefits and attract Gen Z talent into future-facing roles. 🔐 The importance of Security by Design and controlling supply chains to build trust, particularly in cybersecurity. 📋 Opportunities for organisations include AI awareness training at board level and building resilience through strategic response plans, drawing inspiration from the White House’s 'war games.' These insights reaffirm WithYouWithMe's mission of bridging the digital skills gap through skills-based hiring and preparing organisations for the future of work. 🌐 Learn more about how we’re shaping the future of tech talent: https://lnkd.in/gZZYpfPj #CogX2024 #AI #LifelongLearning #SkillsBasedHiring #WorkforceTransformation#CogX2024 #AI #LifelongLearning #SkillsBasedHiring #WorkforceTransformation

In case you missed it, here are some of the best moments from the CogX Summit 2024! 🎉 Industry leaders from OpenAI, Google, Microsoft and more, took to the stage to share their insights into some of the most pressing issues and challenges in the tech landscape. Here are some of the key takeaways: 🧐 - AI’s impact on everyday life is just beginning  For Thomas Wolf, CSO of Hugging Face, it's not just about looking at what AI can do now, but also considering its transformative potential for the future:    “The problem is that we tend to focus on AGI and doomsday scenarios. But the more likely outcome is that AI is implemented into many specific aspects of everyday life.” - AI is revolutionising industries on a massive scale Thomas Balkizas emphasised the profound shifts AI is bringing to crucial sectors like healthcare and education, where its influence will be felt most strongly:      “AI is going to cause the biggest transformation in pharma, healthcare, and education we’ve ever seen.” - Global leaders are racing to balance AI policy and innovation OpenAI's Anna Makanju spoke about the growing global desire to strike the right balance between regulating AI and maximising its potential, particularly among governments and policymakers:  “It felt like the year of AI at the UN General Assembly. We met with so many ministers, heads of state, and civil society leaders… there's really just an incredible desire to figure out how to balance needs to intervene on the policy front with really harnessing the immense benefits that this technology could have.” Check out other key moments below! 🤩 #CogX2024

Human Thinking continued the CogX Festival Leadership Summit with Sheila Mmbijjewe, former Deputy Governor for the Central Bank of Kenya, and Melanie G., Cyber Policies and Tech Geopolitics Lead at Tony Blair Institute for Global Change. Held at Pavilion Club, Kristof Harling, CEO of Human Thinking, hosted the discussion on “Resilience and Challenges in Payment Systems” where the following key themes were highlighted: • The need to reduce costs, risks, and lead times for cross boarder transactions. • The need for resiliency across national infrastructure and payment systems. • The need to identify and understand what payment products and instruments are wanted by the market. • The need for international collaboration in structuring and developing payment systems to ensure new networks can be trusted and are fit for purpose. • The need for financial institutes and Central Banks to work with technologies and technology providers to explore and understand alternative asset classes and payment systems. • The need for data protections while considering the access to data for the development of new financial and payments products. To bring together and to support the development of payment systems, Human Thinking is working with institutions to explore how to build more intelligent payment systems. Thanks Tony! I really do agree with Emma Sinclair MBE that you championing ASI (Artificial Specific Intelligence) as a term and strategy is the way forward—perhaps a future book topic 🙌?

Tony Fadell took the #CogX2024 main stage to share some down-to-earth advice for AI developers and startups: All eyes might be on AGI, but Tony Fadell urged us to focus on the here and now—practical AI use cases that make a real impact. It's not about sweeping changes or job loss, but about empowering people with better tools. Competing with industry giants on large language models? Not the smartest move. Tony's advice for startups is to prioritise targeted AI applications that meet specific needs, rather than taking on the big players. Huge thanks to Tony for sharing his insights. And with this, it's a wrap for the main stage at #CogX2024! A big thank you to all our amazing attendees, speakers, and supporters who made this event so special. We can't wait to see you again in 2025!

Thanks CogX Festival! Two fun on-stages: Reuniting w/ Emma Sinclair MBE to chat the #AI inflection point Joining one of Build Collective's all-stars Roeland Nusselder Plumerai with Rosanne Kincaid-Smith, MBC Northern Data Group moderated by Rachael Kim to dive in on how #AI is shaping the #future of #startups AI is certainly a topic we are all talking about for many reasons these days.  So my take on the subject: Part I 1) I’ve said it before and will say it again…today's AI LLMs are mostly glorified demos for the really interesting applications. Overfunded by FOMO-driven VCs without truly understanding the tech limitations that drive real applications requirements.  2) Hallucinations are a real problem. 3) Customers’ expectations are higher than what can be delivered today. Part II The AI startups that I’m very interested in and invested in = solving valuable problems, have businesses that work well & are having an impact right now. I've started coining it "Artificial Specific Intelligence." These Build Collective companies like Plumerai, Greyparrot, Smartex.ai, Nabla, Orionis Biosciences, Simbe are prime examples of companies using AI to transform the world with small, efficient AI systems. We just shared the news that Build Collective is an early investor since 2018 in Plumerai and they announced a well-known customer in the smart home cam space Chamberlain Group. What an amazing opportunity to speak at the CogX Festival in the spectacular Royal Albert Hall with the wonderful panel of Katrina King and Ivan Mason as we looked at Gen AI and creativity in advertising, movies and TV. It was great to share the stage with what was a genuinely diverse and inclusive set of speakers throughout the day, I've seen a number of posts on LinkedIn calling this out. It's hard work to build a really diverse conference program so the effort made here does not go unappreciated! It was also fantastic to meet and learn from so many new people doing great work in innovation and implementation of AI across the whole range of industries and arenas. From government policy, industrial strategy, ethical considerations and of course commercial deployment, I can't think of an area that wasn't covered. Also, no Gen AI and Creativity day would be complete without a GenAI Sci-FI version of our panel! Thanks to my suport crew Scott Kerr, Tasha Jones, Stephen Stewart and Kathleen Schroeter for coming along to cheer us on / heckle, and to CogX for giving us the chance to speak on the main stage at such an iconic venue - truly an honour.

🚀 Another year, another unforgettable CogX Festival! 🚀 It’s no secret that AI is transforming every industry - but events like CogX are where the real magic happens. They bring together leaders, innovators, and changemakers to exchange ideas, share best practices, and navigate the uncharted waters of rapid transformation. I've personally witnessed unicorns emerge from connections made at events like these, where passionate individuals find their future business partners, investors, employees, and mentors. This year, I had the privilege of speaking at a CogX side event, hosted by Tech London Advocates & Global Tech Advocates about "The Future of Leadership: Harnessing Humanised AI." Joining me were amazing panelists Alan Greenberg, Kirill Slavin and Mitchell Goldman, and we had an incredible discussion about how AI can empower today's and tomorrow's leaders to lead, and how we hold the power to shape the future of the world, today. 🌍 A huge thank you to everyone who made this event possible, including: 🙏 Charlie Muirhead (CogX) Russ Shaw CBE Tracey Rob Perera CA PMP FCMI Charlie Paice (Stein-Cohen) Valeria Charlamova Andrei Croitor Rayhan Beebeejaun Sponsored by psAI Consulting #CogX2024 #AI #Leadership #Innovation

Northern Data Group is proud to have partnered with the CogX Festival on AI, which took place earlier this week. Bringing together leaders, visionaries, and change-makers, attendees spent the day immersed in the critical question: "How can we seize the AI opportunity?"   We kicked off the day with a packed breakfast briefing hosted by our Group COO, Rosanne Kincaid-Smith, MBC, and CEO of Deeptech Labs, Miles Kirby.   Rosanne then took to the main stage to discuss how AI can combat cybercrime. The panel, including Kevin Allison, John Carlin, and expertly moderated by Karen Mcluskie, explored the growing cyber vulnerabilities linked to the rise of generative AI – highlighting that as AI learns more and processes increasing amounts of data, the cyber threat landscape expands. Rosanne and her fellow panellists also emphasised the importance of partnership between industry and government to build operational and societal resilience against cyber-attacks.    During the "Superpowering Startups: How AI is Shaping the Future of Startups" panel, Rosanne joined Tony Fadell and Roeland Nusselder to discuss the pivotal role tech companies can play in democratizing access to AI technology for startups, helping them grow and unlock their potential to drive innovation. Rosanne highlighted how Northern Data Group's #AIAccelerator is a key example of this.   A great day, full of interesting sessions, panels, and networking with like-minded visionaries in the industry.   #CogX2024 #AI #genAI #highperformancecomputing #generativeAI #startups #innovationbravery
