Hello Community- I'm so proud to be working on this innovative collaborative project with my colleague Izzy Crawford and the UArctic COIL thematic network (Collaborative, online Inter-university, Learning) on this exciting project to address mental health stigma. An exciting opportunity for students to work together to address self-care and mental health stigma collaboratively. Please share with potential students who might be interested in joining us. LOOKING for Masters and PhD students to be part of an innovative, collaborative, inter-university project that addresses mental health stigma Here are the details: What is it?  A voluntary, collaborative, online, international, learning opportunity (COIL)  An innovative approach to addressing mental health stigma What do we do?  Discuss strength based approaches to addressing mental health What does self care look like on your campus?  How is mental health addressed in your community? Plant a Hope Garden on your campus or in your community What works?  What’s missing? What can we learn from each other? What is the time commitment? Meetings held quarterly via Teams What are the benefits of participating in this project? There are lots but just to name a few…. Connect with other graduate students from across the Arctic and across the globe to explore innovative solutions to mental health issues Collectively share your findings with the COIL thematic network Opportunities to publish articles and blog posts Who are the organizers? The Yellow Tulip Project- a US based nonprofit organization with a mission to smash the stigma associated with mental illness, build community and spread hope. COIL@UArctic is a future-focused, virtual learning strategy designed to promote collaborative learning among students across the Arctic and beyond. D. and Eva Haug in the audience and so many other COIL enthusiasts from around the world. Huge thanks to Elina Oksanen who sadly couldn’t join us but provided some excellent content on Biodiversity loss education, and to all the COIL@UArctic partners who helped to create the network and keep it moving forward Judy Tupper, DHEd, MCHES, CPPS, Samantha Alperin, Ed.D., Alöna Roitershtein, Ranjan Datta, Heather Sauyaq Jean Kwamboka Gordon, PhD (Iñupiaq), Antonia Thomas, @Mariana Tamayo University of Iceland.

Today Steve Harbert and I presented at the 32nd Nordic Symposium on Tourism and Hospitality Research - we spoke about #COIL and how such Collaborative Online International Learning can help make globally competent and skilled #tourism #workforce of the #future. We also introduced COIL@UArctic Thematic Network to encourage more COIL projects across the #North. We saw many great presentations and participated in important conversations about the challenges universities are facing in #TourismEducation, and how can these be addressed. A very interesting discussion and a lot to think about 💡 And, of course, I simply cannot help but find references to #Orkney anywhere I go, especially in the #Nordic region. Besides being mentioned in the discussion on #IslandTourism development (hello there, #Bornholm and #Åland!), we found a Skara Brae here in #Stavanger (see photos)! Huge thanks to the University of Stavanger for organising the event, your hospitality, interesting programme and fantastic experience. Please do join Elina Oksanen, Izzy Crawford FCIPR, and me at our Thursday session: COIL and sustainability education in the Arctic region (S7.07) 14:00 – 15:00 CEST, Thursday 19 September 2024 ‐ 1 hour Roundtable session COIL@UArctic is a new University of the Arctic thematic network designed to promote and facilitate Collaborative Online International Learning and biodiversity education across the Arctic region.
