Lately, I’ve been working on a teacher training and development course, which got me reflecting on my decade-long journey in instructional design and digital education. Over the years, I’ve come to see our work as an art form—one where storytelling is at the heart of effective learning. It’s not just about delivering content; it’s about creating experiences that immerse learners in a narrative, challenge their thinking, and inspire action in a supportive environment. This approach is inspired by two industry leaders who have significantly shaped my thinking— Julie Dirksen and Christy Tucker. Design for How People Learn is my go-to recommendation for anyone new to the field, as it’s packed with clear and effective learning strategies. And Christy Tucker’s blog has been a goldmine of practical techniques that have taken my skills to the next level.
