Well that’s the LGA Conference 2024 over and what another great event. Thank you to the Local Government Association for organising. Meeting face to face and talking with council colleagues we are reminded of the complexity of local government. Issues raised went from meeting net zero targets and helping residents be more climate aware through to implications of the new Procurement Act and the ongoing staffing challenges almost all councils face. The war for talent particularly in areas such as planning and social work came through strongly where councils find themselves competing with the private sector but sometimes each other. We were pleased to discuss our joint venture for contingency and temporary staff as one option for councils to consider https://lnkd.in/egv2C-6V And thank you to all the councils that entered our competition to win a free commercial workshop. We will be announcing the winner early next week so follow us to find out who it is! No doubt we’ll be starting the plan for the event next year as July 2025 will come around quickly but in the meantime please contact us if we can help you meet some of those ongoing challenges: LASER Energy Procurement Services Lifecycle Management Group HR Connect Steve Wilson Caroline Wheller James Drury Lirette Mill Ben Ah-Thew And see you in Liverpool 2025!

💡 The future is in renewables With continuing pressure to meet net zero targets across the public sector we can see opportunities for a step change to make targets a reality. LASER Energy is now working with several councils across the UK on projects that utilise large-scale renewables such as Solar and Wind as major opportunities to help with carbon emission reductions. These projects also deliver the benefit of being revenue generating assets. As a trusted energy procurement and net zero specialist, LASER Energy is now offering a new rooftop Solar service that supports your organisation from initial scoping assessment through to project management and delivery. Come and visit the LASER Energy team on stand Q12 at Local Government Association annual conference in Harrogate next week where they are running an exclusive offer for a FREE desktop solar assessment* for one of your chosen buildings. *For terms and conditions and the opportunity to register visit our stand next week. #LGAconf2024 #LASEREnergy #localauthorities #workingtogether Ben Ah-Thew Richard Roberts Steve Wilson Caroline Wheller Alex Aldham-Breary Maxine Kerley

🌟 Attracting and retaining talent in Local Government Reports suggest that 9/10 councils continue to face difficulties in staff recruitment and retention. From roundtables and discussions we’ve had with councils, we appreciate there is no one simple answer to this complex situation; councils need a range of options to help address the different departmental challenges that exist. Our local authority joint ventures for the supply of contingent and temporary staff are saving our partners money, improving the quality of staff and delivering surpluses back to the councils to invest in their local areas. #LGAConf2024 The upcoming LGA Conference agenda highlights some of the great innovation and digital solutions councils are employing and this in the face of the ongoing financial challenges and uncertainty in local government. Investment in maintaining up to date technology is part of that equation and Cantium, part of Commercial Services Group, is enabling digital transformation in Kent County Council through the rollout of Microsoft Surface devices. Cantium has created and is in the process of implementing an end-to-end managed replacement programme that has enhanced user experience, improved staff productivity, upgraded security and delivered value for money. This project is helping to address the risks that an aging estate of increasingly unreliable laptops posed and which was also becoming a source of frustration for staff delivering services. Visit us at stand Q12 we would love to discuss your challenges and how we could help. Before then you can read our case study: #cantium #localgovernment #digitaltransformation #productivity Darren Body Lari Heathcote
