We are an independent, charitable infrastructure organisation whose aim is to inspire groups to seize opportunities

About us

Community360 are an independent, charitable infrastructure organisation whose aim is to inspire groups to seize opportunities and become more enterprising and sustainable. Established in 1968 to assist charities, voluntary and community organisations in Colchester and Braintree (300+) through any activities which provide representation, enable development, encourage liaison, nurture strategic partnerships and provide support to promote voluntary action.   Our frontline services are developed in response to local needs and not only assist established community groups but are designed to address unmet needs, with project development defined by the communities we work with to improve their outcomes and life opportunities.   These include Community Development, Community Transport, Shopmobility, Volunteer Centre, Timebank and Community Accounts. We signpost members of the public, provide training for low level skills, apprenticeships and volunteer recruitment. Groups receive assistance on fundraising, business planning, constitutions, policies/procedures, monitoring/evaluation and Quality Marks.

We would like to take the opportunity to say thank you to everyone who participated in the Communicating about Cancer event at the One Colchester Hub, 4-6 Long Wyre Street on 18th October! We were very grateful for the openness of the discussions that took place and the support of all of the organisations present on the day.  Being able to talk about cancer and inequalities, with healthcare professionals and voluntary organisations, provided an excellent opportunity to explore the themes we have been hearing through our engagement in communities, and to identify actions we can take forward together in partnership to improve people’s experiences.  Our exhibitors, speakers and attendees took part in meaningful conversations, which we will integrate into the next stages of this project. Watch this space for further activities or get in touch if you would like to find out more! Contact information@community360.org.uk Thank you - The Robin Cancer Trust, Essex Therapy Dogs, Ending Life’s Taboo, African Families in the UK, East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust, Macmillan, Cervical Cancer nurses, Outhouse, Breast Cancer Now, North Essex Lymphoedema Support, Adult Community Learning, Action for Family Carers #cancer #healthinequalities #Macmillan #communication #learning #sharing

Writing is an essential skill for everyone, and we do it from the minute we open our phones, laptops, or any device that we use to communicate. Most importantly we have to write well to communicate effectively at work. RLF are delivering a free workshop to help us express our thoughts and feelings in order to improve our confidence and quality of work. If you are writing emails, reports, case studies, or blogs, the workshop will boost your confidence, but most importantly will give you the chance to learn how to enjoy writing. Boost Your Writing Confidence – 18th September 2pm – 4.30pm (this will be a fun and interactive afternoon) This is a free face-to-face session at the One Colchester Community Hub. If you wish to book your place, please email: funding@community360.org.uk

Last week the University of Essex and Community360 led an engaging session at Eastern ARC Conference on ‘Harnessing Heritage’. Since 2017, Community360 and University of Essex have worked in partnership to collect oral histories and record the lived experiences of volunteers and community organisers. As one strand of a new KTP, we are now working with local partners to co-produce a community archive of the voluntary and community sector, run by and for the people of Colchester University of Essex Eastern Arc

Community360 has been commissioned to work with Macmillan Cancer Support to develop a better understanding of people’s experiences of cancer. Existing research suggests that veterans tend to have more negative experiences of cancer services. We would like to hear from you if you are living in Essex, have or had cancer or are caring for someone with cancer, so we can learn what barriers to cancer care and diagnosis you may have experienced Please contact information@community360.org.uk , send us a DM or call 01206 505250 if you would like to share your experiences with us. #MacmillanSupport #CommunityVoices #SupportfForAll #CancerAwareness #MacmillanCancer #EssexCancer #VeteransCancer
