Another new report from CoMoUK, providing an analysis of motivations, use patterns and social value of DDRT from a users’ perspective, thanks to funding from Smarter Choices, Smarter Places. The research found that Scotland’s DDRT services are used by individuals from diverse backgrounds and that the services are mainly used for leisure trips. Crucially, DDRT trips mainly replace trips that would otherwise be made by car, thereby helping to reduce traffic-related emissions. DDRT provides a wealth of social, economic and environmental benefits to its users, and to wider society. In order to expand these vital services throughout Scotland, and to improve the DDRT services that are already in place, CoMoUK has set out a number of recommendations outlined fully in the report. Truck Transportation
CoMoUK is the national charity dedicated to the social, economic and environmental benefits of shared transport.
About us
CoMoUK is the national organisation for shared transport, a charity for promoting its social, economic and environmental benefits. Shared transport means schemes such as car clubs and bike share where people can use a mode of transport without having to own it. We work collaboratively with national, regional, transport and local authorities as well as the private sector to further these public benefits. We do this via research, operator accreditation, stakeholder engagement, policy work and advocacy.

We are really pleased to see that the DFT have invited authorities, who are interested in running a shared e-scooter trial in a new area, to submit an expression of interest. This is something that CoMoUK have been calling for. The current trials have been very popular with close to 50 million rides since they began in June 2020. Please get in touch if you have questions about developing a trial. https://lnkd.in/er_Zu2rx

CoMoUK reposted this
Exclusive: UK Government opens application process for new e-scooter trial areas. A Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom (DfT) spokesperson told Zag Daily: “We want to deliver integrated transport that reduces emissions, improves journeys, and gives people choice over how they travel. “We are assessing interest from local authorities who are seeking to open new e-scooter trials. This will allow us to continue learning how to run successful rental schemes which put safety first and ensure the best possible service.” E-scooter trials are currently live in 22 regions across England. CoMoUK has created new guidance to support housing associations to promote and develop shared transport schemes for their residents. Implementing schemes within housing associations can align with the organisation’s aims, such as supporting their tenants’ physical and mental wellbeing and meeting the organisation’s sustainability objectives while saving tenants money. This project is funded by Smarter Choices, Smarter Places. Read more here - https://lnkd.in/ehGth2JK

Community engagement is key to ensuring that our pop-up mobility hubs are well-used. At each pop-up location, we work with a range of local partners to provide free walking and cycling activities for the community. In recent weeks, there has been lots going on at both our Glasgow and Inverness hubs, check out the photos below: 🔧 Dynamo CIC providing Dr Bike services at the Mount Florida pop-up mobility hub in Glasgow (as part of the Mount Florida community council street party) 🚲 Velocity Café and Bicycle Workshop Ltd leading a Cycle to Health ride, which incorporated a visit to the pop-up mobility hub on Inverness' Church Street 🛞 Bike for Good running an introduction to bike maintenance class near the Mount Florida pop-up mobility hub The project is funded by Paths for All's Smarter Choices, Smarter Places initiative, which is a grant fund of Transport Scotland.
