#NCLW 2024 will run from: Monday 28 October - Sunday 3 November. National Care Leavers Week gives young care leavers the opportunity to challenge the perceptions given to them and raise awareness of the issues those in care face, whilst also celebrating the incredible things many go on to achieve. Organised by Become, a national charity for children in care and young care leavers, The theme this year will be: All of Us, We are One. Here are just three ways you can help -Amplify the voices of care experienced people by liking, commenting and sharing the social media content this week. ⭐ Manager Led Workshop⭐ We hosted another insightful manager-led workshop at our head office, continuing our commitment to professional growth and excellence within our team. This month, manager led the session was run by Maddie and Debbie, our responsible individuals, focusing on safeguarding. With participation from staff across all of our homes, it was a valuable opportunity to deepen our understanding and ensure consistency in our practices. These monthly workshops, where our management team takes turns delivering role-specific training, are a cornerstone of our ongoing development. A huge thank you to Maddie & Debbie and to all the staff who attended and contributed to the discussion. Your dedication makes a real difference! 💪

👐 Transferable Skills in Residential Care: The Power of Teamwork 👐 Teamwork is still a key life skill we help foster. By guiding young people in collaboration, sharing responsibilities, and learning to support others, we help them build confidence and develop a sense of community that will serve them in the outside world. 💪When children learn about teamwork, they also gain valuable skills that prepare them for life beyond residential care: 💬 Communication – Working with support workers and others, they learn how to express their thoughts, listen actively, and respect different perspectives. 💡 Problem-Solving – With guidance from our team, they learn how to approach challenges thoughtfully and recognize when to seek help, fostering independence while knowing they’re supported. 🌱 Collaboration beyond home – We encourage participation in group activities, school, or community events to practice these skills in different environments.
