Such a privilege to work for a charity based in a community that is generously supported by local business. We're so grateful to Complete Wills and their generous support of our Foodbank Project, a project that in the last quarter alone helped to support more than 300 households with emergency food - that's more than 4 tonnes worth of food. A recent Will Aid survey reveals that over half of UK adults recognise the importance of planning for their digital legacy, though 42% still overlook including digital assets in their Wills 📲 This oversight risks leaving loved ones without access to treasured memories or crucial information, highlighting the value of clear digital estate planning to manage online accounts, preserve photos, and simplify handling financial matters after death. #DigitalLegacy #EstatePlanning #Wills

Many cohabiting couples remain unaware of the significant financial risks of not having a Will in place. The Rules of Intestacy determine how a person’s estate is distributed when they die without a Will. These rules prioritise spouses, civil partners, and blood relatives, often leaving cohabiting partners with no legal claim to inherit anything. The enclosed findings from Will Aid's research provides estate planning insights from cohabiting couples 📝 #CohabitingCouples #WillPlanning #EstatePlanning

High Court claims against executors in England and Wales have risen by over 20% in the past year, with most disputes settling before reaching court 🏛️ These claims often involve breaches of duty, especially in blended families, where executors may fail to act in the beneficiaries' best interests. Contributing factors include executor inaction, family conflicts, outdated Wills, and delays in probate, all exacerbated by rising property values and changing family dynamics. #Probate #EstateManagement #HighCourt

Accompanying the deceased to a Swiss clinic does not, by itself, amount to assisting suicide, the High Court rules 🏥 A widower will be allowed to inherit the residue of his late wife's estate, even though he admitted to assisting her death by suicide at a clinic in Switzerland. The England and Wales High Court (EWHC) judgment confirms that merely accompanying a person to a location where they intend to end their own life does not constitute assisting a suicide, which would have disqualified him from inheriting his wife’s estate (Morris v Morris, 2024 EWHC 2554 Ch).

New Rules for Banking Fraud Reimbursement Have Been Announced 🚨 From 7 October 2024, The Payment Systems Regulator will require Payment Service Providers, such as banks and building societies, to reimburse most (Authorised Push Payment) electronic bank transfer fraud victims within five business days (Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays).
