At the second day if the International Composites Summit, we released the updated annual figures for the UK composites industry. Revenues have grown by 8.4% to £13.361 billion whilst employment is up by 3% to 49,843 employees. This indicates very high levels of productivity across the sector with average revenues per employee of £268,062. Lightweight, adaptable, immensely strong and durable, composites are the essential enabling technology for decarbonisation. They hold the key to more efficient transport, sustainable energy – including the much-heralded hydrogen economy – and much else. Composites will help our powerhouse industries – automotive, aerospace, defence, infrastructure – stay relevant and competitive. Products the world will want to buy.
