About us
Conscious Youth is a not for profit, community organisation led by and for young people that seeks to redress the balance by developing their skills, knowledge and aspirations. Our work is focused on creating & delivering preventative youth work through projects, programmes & events. By using innovative ways of engagement we aim to improve the emotional and mental resilience of young people. We draw upon asset based community development (ABCD) principles as a model of engagement. The group was formed by Serena Johnson and Sophie Simpson who work closely with young people to ensure that the work is effective, inclusive and engaging. Our projects and programmes are all developed through consultations with young people.

We did it! Our bid to the Mayor's Safer communities fund was successful! 🥳🎉❤️ After a successful pilot last year this funding will see the roll out of our Conscious Girls targeted 12 week programme in North and South Kirklees. We are happy that Molly and patience who are long standing members of our Conscious Girls group were present to accept the cheque! 😁 #inspire #empower #transform #girlfocused #girled #youthled #consciousgirls #sisterhood #girlpower #resilence #selfdevelopment #confidence #socialaction #socialchange

Tonight really bought a tear to our eyes ❤️. When we started Conscious Youth in 2016 we didn't know how far it would go, all we knew is we needed to create a safe space for the most disenfranchised young people to develop and express themselves. Tonight it was very emotional to welcome back 4 of the young ladies that were the original (OG's) members and inspiration for Conscious Youth being what it is today. We are truly proud of them all, they are the true definition of what a 'Conscious Woman' is. Thank you Shanta, Layla, Tamika and Tanazia. Here is a little of what they had to say reflecting on their experience.... #inspire #empower #transform #girlfocused #girled #youthled #consciousgirls #sisterhood #girlpower #resilence #selfdevelopment #confidence #socialaction #socialchange
