Computer Vision is one of the 8 core construction technologies identified by GIRI to reduce #errors and quality issues. 🏗️🔍 GIRI (Get it Right Initiative) research analyzed 17 root causes for errors and 31 tech categories (identified by C-Tech Club), with insights from #assetowners, #contractors, consultants, and tech providers. Here are the 5️⃣key takeaways: 🚧⚠️ Errors are the main cause behind cost overruns, delays, and accidents (happen when people run around to fix things!) 🧑🤝🧑 Successful tech adoption depends on people and their motivations. "You can’t get someone to do something they don’t want to do." 🏗️🤝 GCs are fatigued by numerous tools lacking integration and generally only tested tech requested and paid for by owners - this is changing rapidly but incentives need better alignment! 🔄 Tech was historically used to create more complex designs or for turn arounds instead of improving current methods. This needs to change to enable better outcomes. 📏🖥️ #Lidar Scanning is one of the most valued resources by consultants and contractors, but manual proccessing had made it impossible to scale until recently! 📊✨At Contilio, we use laser scanners and 3D computer vision and deep leaening to automatically identify 9/10 errors within hours, compared to just 2/10 with manual methods, saving million💲. 🌏🚀We had the chance to visit #Austin, #Houston, #SanDiego &  #SanFrancisco as a part of our successful #US trip, and came back with a new customer, many leads and 3 key insights: 1️⃣🏗️US is high velocity in terms of #construction activity compared to Europe, but lags behind the Middle East. Texas, in particular, is booming as talent is moving from California, boosting #contech/#proptech activities in the region. Talent shortage, however, is a key problem requiring scaled use of tech to unlock #productivity and hybrid ways of working. 2️⃣🔗🏢US has successfully closed the #BIM deployment gap that it suffered from relative to the UK. All large scale US projects are using it and look to realize value from this data during construction and #operations phases in addition to design. 3️⃣🧠#ENRFutureTech was great, and the biggest discussion points were centered around scaled use of tech after testing it, the importance of #changemanagement in realizing that scaled value, and #AI/#genAI as a central part of digital transformation strategies and initiatives. 📩As we scale in the US, we’d love to join forces with you to reduce #rework costs, #waste & #delays, improve #delivery timelines, #productivity, and time to #money, and save $millions.
