Dundee. Taking a few days away from Bristol, really struck by the amazing regeneration in Dundee. This must have taken a really positive 'can-do' approach for a city that must have to compete with Edinburgh and Glasgow for investment. Cracking place.

Bristol. More great clients investing in jobs and placemaking. Our client BBRE's application for a fantastic new office building with enough space for 432 employees goes to planning committee on October 23, recommended for approval. This would replace the obsolete 1970's Canningford House with a highly sustainable BREEAM Excellent new office building designed by Stride Treglown. We've worked closely with the Boultbee Brooks team, and Matt Tucker and Jeremy Turner at Savills to secure the support of The Cornubia publicans and successfully address issues raised by ward councillor Ani Stafford-Townsend. https://lnkd.in/ghNnakFH

Social housing crisis. Very interesting (and worrying) analysis, highlighting some of the issues the industry faces in supporting the delivery of affordable housing. What the article doesn't drill down into is that developers are also facing increasing viability challenges, so that pipeline of affordable housing (with no RPs to purchase) will also start to dwindle. This really needs resolving, through partnership, not through conflict and blame. https://lnkd.in/ec2-sjn4

Bristol. Affordable housing delivery. This is complex. Cllr Parsons is right to focus on dealing with the existing Council-owned stock, bringing them all up to standard...a massive and costly task. We also all know that viability is extremely problematic in Bristol (and elsewhere). Will an RP be able to deliver everything that's been promised? I know our clients would be very interested in taking these two schemes on, but the commercial realities would mean they would have to unload a lot of costs to make it actually happen. One to watch. https://lnkd.in/et3jdpK6

Bristol. Going to committee next week. 435 homes right opposite Temple Meads. Major first step in delivering the 10,000 homes Temple Quarter regen has promised. Officers support - in fact no consultee objections. Everyone in the industry knows how tight viability is. This would deliver 43 new affordable homes at Local Housing Allowance rents...which isn't easy in this climate. I hope committee members don't lose sight of how important it is to build all types of homes, market and affordable. Bristol has so much more potential, driven - in part - by Temple Quarter...getting onsite to build this scheme would be a major step towards fulfilling that potential. https://lnkd.in/ek-8uwFk

Gloucester. Approved unanimously at last night's planning committee: Bromford's plans to redevelop the former NHS Holly House site with 35 affordable homes. Good to see Bromford's further commitment to the city as it works with GCC to tackle the 4,700-long housing waiting list. Planning advice from #gilesbrockbank @ #ridge, client lead #lydiawhitaker #bromfordhousing, design #jamesgay #ophirarchitecture. Glad #conversationpr was able to assist. #planning #housing #gloucestershire

Bristol. Office to PBSA conversion (399 beds) in city centre secures permission. Must admit, didn't realise our client had got this over the line three months ago! Glad to have supported Melburg's Andrew Burns, Stride Treglown's Lee Diggle and Savill's Craig O'Brien and Vicky Button. Great reuse of an existing building, well located to serve both the University of Bristol and University of the West of England. https://lnkd.in/g5ezDK_6 #craigobrien #savills #melburg #stridetreglown

Approved. Bristol. Great outcome. 454 bed PBSA scheme 300 metres from the new #TempleQuarterCampus. Will really help kick-off this massive #universityofbristol -led urban regeneration. After extensive negotiations with #bristolcitycouncil the team finally secured delegated approval after 14 months. Very patient clients at #avoncapitalestates #archielord and #ashleywhittome. Excellent planning advice from #rapleys #michaelorr. Cool and calm development management from #deeleyfreed #rosschester. Superb design from the Bristol team #ahmm #iainwilliams and #cormacfarrelly. Glad #conversationpr was able to play a key role. AND, of course, the usual excellent market counsel from #nickallan #cushmanwakefield

Bristol. Great to see funding secured for the former Chanson Foods site, that we worked alongside #Savills (#GeraintJones and #MattTucker) to secure approval at committee some while ago (unanimous committee member support, not usually the case for PBSA in Bristol). Bringing the key community group and ward members with us was key to this outcome. Great scheme for #Host, in a great location for #UniversityofBristol's #TempleQuarterEnterpriseCampus. https://lnkd.in/gAQxp4iC
