Why is OINDP testing so challenging? The interaction between formulation, device, and patient is complex and the relevance of standard in vitro tests can be limited. Although these tests are highly validated and repeatable, they provide limited insight into in vivo product performance. Consequently, there is a need for more clinically representative test setups in OINDP development, particularly for demonstrating bioequivalence. While a few robust IVIVCs exist for OINDPs, there remains a crucial need for improved methods.
