👀 It's clear why there’s a growing interest in using the nasal cavity for drug delivery to the systemic circuit and central nervous system. The rich network of blood vessels found in the turbinates and lymphoid tissue allows for rapid drug absorption, while the olfactory region provides a direct pathway to the brain, making it an attractive option for emergency situations or for cases that require immediate relief. ⚽ Last week, the Copley team took to the pitch for the Business Fives Ltd charity football tournament, competing against teams from other Nottingham businesses. Despite strong teamwork and determination, we didn’t manage to bring home the trophy, but the real win was raising funds for Asthma + Lung UK. A special thank you to everyone who supported us and to the other businesses who made the day so memorable with their friendly competition! #CompanyCulture #BusinessFivesFootball

Why is OINDP testing so challenging? The interaction between formulation, device, and patient is complex and the relevance of standard in vitro tests can be limited. Although these tests are highly validated and repeatable, they provide limited insight into in vivo product performance. Consequently, there is a need for more clinically representative test setups in OINDP development, particularly for demonstrating bioequivalence. While a few robust IVIVCs exist for OINDPs, there remains a crucial need for improved methods. We are thrilled to share a fantastic post from Clair Brooks, our Applications Specialist here at Copley 🎉 Clair recently highlighted some exciting research that leverages Copley's equipment, particularly the NGI, in Pseudomonas aeruginosa research, a significant human pathogen. It’s great to see our tools making an impact in crucial areas of microbiology and medicine. #InhalerTesting #Pharmaceuticals #Pharma #Formulations #OINDP
One of the best parts of my role is keeping an eye on work published using Copley's equipment. Last month was a personal favourite, with several papers published that used the NGI in Pseudomonas aeruginosa research. It’s always nice when worlds collide and I get to return to my microbiology roots for a bit! 👩🔬 P. aeruginosa is a major human pathogen causing multidrug-resistant infections, particularly in people with underlying immunodeficiencies or inflammatory lung conditions. It can also be extremely challenging to treat. Three recent papers looked at different potential approaches to treatment and characterised lung delivery using the NGI. - The Nanyang Technological University Singapore and Seoul National University of Science and Technology explored a probiotic dry powder inhaler 📰 https://lnkd.in/ebJdf-wb - The German University in Cairo and the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research looked at nanoparticles in liposomes 📰 https://lnkd.in/ePKSwb6d - And the Yale School of Medicine and College of Wooster investigated nebulised bacteriophage 📰 https://lnkd.in/eveR-B76 All interesting reads and it is encouraging to see the NGI play a part in vital research against such a problematic pathogen! #Pseudomonas #Pseudomonasaeruginosa #AntibioticResistance #Multidrugresistant #Antimicrobial #NGI #InhalerTesting #Pharmaceuticals #OINDPs
