Some thoughts from #Dreamforce24… First of all this was a masterclass in product marketing. >1,500 sessions, almost all hosted in part or entirely by Salesforce employees with a limited presence from service or technology partners - this was all about showing off products, features and the near term roadmap. I genuinely came away with knowledge of additional features in Tableau which I’ve been using for >10 years. Secondly, the most powerful content was from existing customers walking through how they use products in detail and quantifying the impact. The effort that went into vertical-specific customer showcases, stands and demos was very impressive (and I’m sure felt like professional recognition for the customers themselves). I’d recommend that any software marketing leader considers a regular event that brings together 80% customers and 20% prospects with your product specialists. The connections made can be quite powerful, but unfortunately most of you will not be able to charge >$1,000 a ticket. There was of course plenty of buzzword bingo. I now know that what we all need is agents and clouds. Lots of agents and clouds. Finally a few of my favourite takeaways from a Coppett Hill Growth Advisory perspective: - pre-attentive processing and the importance of big a*s numbers in dashboard design - the ‘tidy your room’ report to surface the CRM adoption and compliance of sellers - ‘hypercare’ - when rolling out new platforms or analytics, going and sitting in person with your users, to help adoption and answer questions #valuecreation #crm #sales #productmarketing #gotomarket
