CORE POWER is building scalable new nuclear technologies for ocean transport and heavy industry.
About us
CORE POWER is building scalable new nuclear technologies for ocean transport and heavy industry. In partnership with leading international corporations, CORE POWER will deliver durable zero-emission energy from Floating Nuclear Power Plants (FNPP) and nuclear-powered ships. Over the next few decades as many as 60,000 ships must transition from combustion of fossil fuels to zero-emission propulsion. The UN’s maritime agency IMO has mandated with unanimous approval from 197 countries that shipping must reduce emissions by 50% of the 2008 total, before 2050. This means an actual emission reduction of almost 90%, by 2050. With new nuclear technologies now being developed, shipping can achieve that goal, by producing green sustainable fuels for the smaller ships and powering the largest ships directly. Zero emissions will come as standard. New nuclear for maritime can have an economic potential which is greater than that of oil and gas today. It can provide all the sustainable, clean energy we need to move us deep into the future without polluting the environment.

Great article by our Marine Regulations Lead, Unni! 👏
After 25 years working in the #marine #fuels industry, last year I joined CORE POWER (UK) Ltd where we are working on realising the potential of #advanced #nuclear technology in the #maritime sector. This article explains why nuclear energy has such a critical role to play in the shipping industry's energy transition. Thanks Bunkerspot for letting me share it!
