✨ 2023/24 Season Recap: A Journey Through Innovation, Regulatory Change, Climate Change and Insightful Leadership ✨ Before we dive into our upcoming season of events, let's take a moment to reflect on the highlights from last season. 🚀 We kicked off with Jon Hammant, Head of Compute for Amazon EMEA, at an event sponsored by Be | Shaping the Future. Jon explored how cloud computing, AI, quantum computing, and other groundbreaking technologies will transform the global business landscape over the next decade. 🌍💡 In November, Mark Mullen, Chief Executive of Atom bank, shared his insights during “Challenging Times for Challenger Banks.” His thought leadership provided valuable perspectives on perseverance and staying focused in an ever-evolving industry. 💼🔍 After the festive break, we welcomed Sir Douglas Flint for a dinner in January. A former Cornhill Club President, CFO and Chair at HSBC, and current Chair at abrdn, Sir Douglas offered his reflections on the evolution of the financial services sector over the past 40 years. Another insightful evening, generously sponsored by Be Shaping the Future. 💭🏛️ February brought one of the most significant regulatory discussions in recent memory, led by Sheldon Mills, Executive Director at the Financial Conduct Authority. At the event sponsored by Shapes First, Sheldon breathed life into The Consumer Duty, sharing evidence and stories that truly showcased his passion for the subject. 📜⚖️ From consumers to climate, in March, Amber Rudd (former Home Secretary and Centrica Board member) discussed the ever-changing climate agenda and its implications for businesses. Her balanced, non-political approach resonated with a diverse audience from financial services and beyond. The event was sponsored by Albertine , who also offered a complimentary 30 day trial for all attendees🌱🌍 Our final dinner in May featured Ron Emerson CBE, and was sponsored by FXGuard Limited. Ron spoke on the practical aspects of “levelling up” and fostering an SME lending culture to drive economic growth in the UK. 💷🏗️ Our membership is ever expanding, including within our new under 30s membership category.
