Bringing together people who want to help Cornish communities with projects that make a real difference

About us

In 1998 a group of far-sighted people identified the need to give those struggling in the community a voice and to establish a source of funding for community self-help within Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. That small acorn grew to become the Cornwall Community Foundation in 2003. Since 2003, the Foundation has awarded more than £16 million to Cornish communities, supporting more than 6,000 local, grassroots organisations. Governed by a Board of Trustees, the Foundation is a registered charity (Charity No 1099977) and a company limited by guarantee (Company No 04816191). Our aim is simple, we bring together people who want to help Cornish communities with projects that make a real difference. Generous individual and business donors invest in endowed and immediate impact funds, generating the resources to change lives. This enables us to assess and award grants to the local grassroots community groups that need them most.

  • This Funder Friday, we’re shining a spotlight on Friends of the Foundation 💛 Our Friends are members who play a big part in supporting us. Their membership means that we can continue working to fund the groups in Cornwall that are making a real difference. Friends also give directly to projects that fight poverty, reduce social isolation, and bring communities together. Thank you to every member of this community that supports us and our work. 📸 Pictured: Friends at 'Seeing is Believing' with The Clothes Horse, Cornwall Want to be part of the Friends? • We love to hear what different funded organisations have been up to. In October 2023 the society was awarded £2,205 from The Community Fund to run ‘Film Fun with Friends’. The club invites over 50s members to come together and enjoy classic films, like Casablanca and Brief Encounter, with a cream tea. With this funding from CCF, the film club was able to pay for a film license, hall hire, and a special event which they would be unable to do otherwise. Thanks to that special event, membership has increased and more members are coming along, making new friends and enjoying good movies. Read more 👉 https://lnkd.in/eYTK7ewH

  • Will you be tuning into Autumn Week on Bake Off tonight? 🍂🥮🥧 Whether you're a star baker or just love to get your hands messy in the kitchen, we'd love your help. This year, Coodes Solicitors will be holding a Christmas Cake Stand at Cornwall Christmas Fair and they need donations from home bakers. Proceeds from the fair and this cake stand will go towards Cornwall Community Foundation, so that we can continue to support local organisations, projects, and people doing good in Cornwall. Donations can be dropped off at any Coodes office across Cornwall during office hours. Just be sure to wrap securely in cellophane and provide a list of ingredients. And if baking isn’t your thing, come by and guess the weight of the show stopper cake donated by the very talented The Garden Baker. Come along to Cornwall Christmas Fair at the Eden Project this year 👉 https://lnkd.in/em5KdcNS

  • It's Fund-Day Monday 🥶 Today, we have relaunched 'Surviving Winter' - a continuation of the Crisis Fund for winter months. The fund offers financial support to the people most at risk in Cornwall, helping them to stay warm, active, and healthy. Organisations can apply for £500-£5,000 to share with those at risk who access their services. The Surviving Winter Fund has been supported by the Household Support Funding to reach even more vulnerable households this winter. 🔗 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eR4YNHRU 📷 Pictured: Launceston Community Church's first baby essential starter pack given out, funded by a Surviving Winter grant

  • Businesses are a big part of their communities. And a lot of them want to support these communities. So, Cornwall Community Foundation helps them do just that. This week's Funder Friday, we're looking at Cornwall Business Club. A group of businesses who give to a fund that supports local causes. Joining this club not only lets you give to good causes, it also enables businesses to work together, maximise impact, and share best practice. Find out more about joining the Business Club today 👉 https://lnkd.in/eH69S7XJ 📸 Picture, Falmouth Community Youth Football Club , who recieved a grant from the Business Club Fund

With community, conversation and education at their heart, Rice and Peas Community (RPC) are creating a hub of communication in Launceston. Minority communities are dispersed. RPC plans to create a culture where people from different backgrounds can come together to feel 'Seen and Heard'. Where they can feel respected and supported. We are happy to say RPC have been awarded the funding they need to run the 'Seen and Heard' project through the People in Mind Community Wellbeing Fund. So now they're looking to design it. Not just with people in mind, but with the community itself. Their Co-design event in Launceston tomorrow gives space for: 🍚 Drop in support 🫛 Cultural community collaboration 🍚 Cultural support and advice 🫛 Getting to know you events 🍚 Information, advice and guidance You can drop in Thursday 17 October, 1-4pm, at The Health Hub in Launceston 👉 contact beris@riceandpeascommunity.org.uk for more 📷 Photo from a previous Rice and Peas Community event

  • 🌊 2,151 children and young people supported 🌊 1,884 surf therapy and surf club participants 🌊 146 adaptive surf participants 🌊 121 attended education programmes According to the NHS, 1 in 5 children in the UK have a probable mental health condition. The Wave Project are on a mission to address that. To date, 140,000 young people have accessed surf therapy. A programme where they are given confidence, taught to surf, and supported by a mentor. After completing the therapy course, young people are welcome to join Surf Club, and eventually become a volunteer, so that they can stay supported and part of the community 💙 We are proud to say that we have been able to support The Wave Project with grants from Sedel-Collings Foundation, Worval Foundation, Carew Pole Charitable Trust and more.
