About us
Counter Terrorism Policing is a collaboration of UK police forces working with the UK intelligence community to help protect the public and our national security by preventing, deterring, and investigating terrorist activity. We do this by working in local to global partnerships, from policing teams on the beat and on the streets, supported by a national network of specialist officers and staff across the UK, to our investigators and expert advisors in every corner of the world. Sadly, terrorist attacks can happen at any time or place without warning, and as the threat continues to evolve, then so must we. The challenges we face are not only in person, they are also online and in the shadows. We are dedicated to making the best of our resources, and often unique skills, working with technical experts, digital innovators, and world renowned investigators. Your skills could help protect the UK. With the ongoing terrorist threat, there has never been a more important time to be working alongside some of the best and brightest to help keep the public safe. These ordinary people do extraordinary things in an effort to thwart terrorist planning; to safeguard those who are at risk of radicalisation; to protect our critical national infrastructure, institutions and crowded places, and to pursue and bring terrorists to justice. Most of what we achieve may never see the light of day, but behind the scenes we have the very best working around the clock in an effort to keep us all safe. Every day offers a variety of exciting challenges and exceptional opportunities played out on a regional, national, and international stage. JAILED I A 21-year-old man from Bristol has been sentenced to 3 years and 9 months for terrorism offences. Faseh Sajid glorified extreme Islamist terrorism by sharing graphic content online. He created videos which contained Daesh footage of soldiers fighting, mass executions, and beheadings. Sajid was arrested in January 2023 and has been found guilty of five counts of dissemination of terrorist publications. Head of CTP South East, Detective Chief Superintendent Olly Wright, said: “Sajid was just 18 years old when he began spreading this extremely harmful rhetoric. I therefore stress how important it is that, if you are concerned about a young person, or indeed anyone who is sharing or viewing extreme material, please do report this to keep everyone safe.” We all have a part in countering terrorism. If you see something that doesn't look right, report online in confidence at gov.uk/ACT. Read more ➡https://lnkd.in/ec7AiAJ7

It's been an honour and a privilege to take part in such an iconic sporting event🏅 We sent a total of 249 officers, including 54 Special Constables, from across the country to help with the security operation for #Paris2024. The eight-week operation in aid of the Olympic and Paralympic Games was led by the National Police Coordination Centre (NPoCC) and supported by 39 forces and partners including the UK Home Office, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Counter Terrorism Policing and the Ministry of Defence Police. Mutual aid included: 👮♀186 general patrol officers 👮♂️ 14 bilingual Athlete Liaison Officers 🐶 49 specialist search dogs and their handlers It's not the first time UK officers have been sent overseas to assist with major security and sporting events, but it was the first time Special Constables were used in this way. Our lead for sporting and planned events, Laurence Taylor said: “Paris 2024 has been a real success not just for all the athletes but for our officers and volunteers who helped make the event safe and special for so many visitors. “Policing large-scale security operations is not easy, but our officers have done us proud. They've learned a great deal from international colleagues and the skills and experience they've brought back to their communities cannot be underestimated. “The UK has a proud history of deploying mutual aid to events like this and long may that continue.”
