Today we took our office team meeting on tour to one of our local projects at One Eastside. This is a project that MGAC have worked on since its inception and it was amazing to see construction in full swing. It was an interesting time to view progress with approximately 250 operatives on-site and the apartments at various stages of development as we moved down the building. The slip form core is currently up at 47 stories, so it won’t be long before the building tops out as the tallest building in Birmingham at 51 stories (155m). A big thank you to Ed Biddle and Gavin Gill from Midgard Ltd for showing us around the building! Despite the weather, it was an absolute pleasure showing Cllr Sharon Thompson, JP, Simon Delahunty-Forrest and Nicholas Jackson around One Eastside earlier this week with Midgard Ltd and Alex Neale. The frame is currently at 42 storeys, and it wont be long before it tops out at 51 storeys to become the tallest building in Birmingham.

Birmingham’s tallest building, One Eastside, will also be one of the healthiest and safest thanks to Birmingham City University’s latest AI and construction research. At 155 metres tall, One Eastside is set to become the highest building in Birmingham’s soaring skyline when it is completed in 2026. It will also be one of the healthiest and safest thanks to a new research partnership between Birmingham City University (BCU) and specialist residential developer Court Collaboration, who are delivering the 51-storey property that will consist of 667 one and two-bedroomed Build-to-Rent apartments on behalf of specialist insurer of defined benefit pension schemes, Pension Insurance Corporation plc (PIC). Construction and AI experts at BCU are creating a virtual 3D model of the skyscraper – known as a digital twin – and will use this to monitor air quality and energy consumption. The goals are to ensure occupants are kept safe and to help the building run efficiently and sustainably. The project will also influence future building design. Additionally, we're supporting the team with sustainable approaches by developing energy and embodied carbon strategies to ensure environmental considerations remain top of the agenda. Formerly a chemical engineering teaching facility for Birmingham Metropolitan College, One Eastside represents a landmark regeneration of a long-vacant brownfield site. Located just a stone’s throw from Curzon Street station, which will be the primary terminal of the HS2 development, the One Eastside Towers are transforming Birmingham's skyline.
