An exciting few weeks completing 2 jobs for Argyll and Bute Council reigniting an old partnership. Our in house Arbor Team removed some damaged and over hanging trees along Glen Fruin Road. One of our specialist teams were then on site at Oban Community Playpark repairing damaged wooden beams on a climbing frame. An exciting challenge reinstating the playpark to a safe condition for the locals and visitors to enjoy. #ArgyllBute #Playpark #TreeFelling #Covanburn #Refurbishment

A great project completed by the team in picturesque dollar glen. This path will allow tourists unrestricted walks through the glen once hampered by damage caused with falling trees.
In the picturesque Dollar Glen, nestled within the rolling hills of central Scotland, which is a notable SSSI site, we have undertaken a vital infrastructure project to replace a damaged timber bridge that had been a longstanding part of the local landscape. The bridge, which had been in place for several years, had begun to show significant signs of wear due to age, weathering, and regular use. Its structural integrity had been compromised during a storm which brought down tree’s damaging the main steelwork frame, making it a potential safety hazard for walkers. The goal of the project was to replace the damaged main steelwork sections of the structure, and the aging timber, with new high-quality timber that would restore the bridge’s functionality while preserving the natural aesthetics of Dollar Glen. The first step of the replacement process was the removal of the damaged steelwork sections, so they could be replicated with new ones by specialist fabricators off site. Secondly, careful removal of the aged and damaged timbers was then carried out. All components removed from the structure were done manually and carried on foot to the access car park which was approx. 600 meters across steep terrain. The new structure was designed with modern engineering techniques but retained the classic charm of a timber bridge. The team utilised specially treated, durable timber to ensure the new bridge would have a longer lifespan and be able to withstand the challenging weather conditions in the area. A significant challenge faced during construction was the need to transport materials and equipment to the site without disturbing the surrounding environment. Special care was taken to minimise the impact on the natural vegetation which meant all materials were carried to the site manually on foot. After several months of work, the new timber bridge was completed on time and within budget. The final structure, blending modern, new materials and techniques with traditional timber, now stands as a proud feature in Dollar Glen. It provides safe passage for both pedestrian, while also contributing to the charm and aesthetic value of the area. The replacement of the damaged timber bridge in Dollar Glen marked a significant achievement in enhancing local infrastructure while preserving the region's natural beauty. The project balanced engineering excellence with environmental responsibility, providing a safer and more durable path for years to come. With its completion, the new timber bridge continues to stand as a symbol of both progress and the enduring legacy of Dollar Glen’s rich heritage. #Bridge #Restoration #NationalTrustScotland #Heritage #Biodiversity #Structures

A great and challenging project to work on , Cardross bridge requires upgrading and stabilisation to ensure its longevity whilst not compromising its appearance and original fabric. Scope includes: Scour protection. Grouted anchors. Masonry indents and pointing. Take down and rebuild of spandrels including dowels. New concrete infill. Replacement carriageway. New service ducts. Relocation of mains water supply. All works undertaken and managed by our experienced team at Covanburn. #bridges #engineering #masonry #anchors #scour #dams
Some fantastic aerial shots of our works being carried out at Cardross Bridge in Stirling. We are downtaking and rebuilding the upstream and downstream copes and parapet. Removing and rebuilding the spandrel walls and carrying out structural repairs. We are also removing and replacing the road surface. The video shows the extent of the scaffold involved allowing us to safely carry out these works over the water and the dams that have been built to allow access to the stonework. #Cardross #Bridge #Stone #Restoration #Dams #Watercourse

Yesterday at Motherwell Football Club we held our first business event in a while. A brilliant presentation from Head of Refereeing in Scotland - William Collum which touched on the struggles of progressing as a referee which correlated with the struggles faced with running a business. Our stadium manager then gave a short tour round the stadium to tell a bit of history of the club. A huge thank you to everyone for coming along to the event, I hope you enjoyed it and keep your eyes peeled for the next one!
