Wandsworth-based community energy group saving energy, reducing emissions and retrofitting London homes and businesses.
About us
CREW Energy is a community energy group predominantly based in south-west London who care about making the capital a more resilient and sustainable place to live. CREW Energy offers a holistic service to help households, businesses and third-sector organisations reduce their carbon emissions and energy costs through retrofit, energy efficiency and low-carbon alternatives. We provide technical advice on the most appropriate energy options, funding packages, installation and after-care support. We want to make switching to a low carbon future as easy and simple for you as possible. In addition to our low-carbon work, we know many Londoners are at risk of fuel poverty. We are committed to supporting them to reduce their energy costs, access grants and benefits and stay warm and well through our South West London Energy Advice Partnership (SWLEAP). We raise funds to support these projects from a mix of foundations, grants, crowd funding and local investors. Any surpluses we raise through our work are directly invested in programmes promoting sustainable community well-being.

There's been lots of chat about the #AutumnBudget in the last week, but what did it have to say about energy? ⚡️ The short answer is 'lots', but is it enough? What are your thoughts? 💭

We've been shortlisted for a Fuel Poverty Action award at the Community Energy England Awards 🎉 There are at least 13,521 households in fuel poverty in Wandsworth, 8.271 in Richmond upon Thames, 9,936 in Merton and 7,174 in Kingston upon Thames. We're working hard to do something about it. Through free one-to-one energy advice sessions and home energy visits with our advisers, our SWLEAP partnership with Habitats & Heritage, funded by SGN, Community Energy South and UK Power Networks is providing a targeted service to address these elevated needs in London hotspots and get support where it is needed most. 💚 We're really proud that the team's hard work has been recognised and can't wait to find out more about the other finalists in our category. Best of luck everyone! #CEAwards2024

Huge thanks to the Richmond and Wandsworth Councils Climate team for helping us hand out 100+ Warm Home Packs this Wednesday 👏 💚 Energy advisors Izzie and Toby were on hand to give extra energy advice and support. They covered how to save money on bills by making small changes, plus how to apply for further grants, and book one our free home energy visits. We’ll be doing the same again in Richmond next week, plus packs are available in libraries across the borough throughout autumn/winter. Find out more at the link in the post 👇

The energy sector reacted to the government's autumn spending review with a few common themes 👇 ⚡️ The government has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing the UK's clean energy sector and promoting climate technologies but, overall, the feeling is that more needs to be done. ⚡️ The £3.4 billion 'first step' towards the Warm Homes Plan is welcome but feels more like a tiptoe. In opposition, Labour initially committed to £60 billion over 10 years. ⚡️ The budget acknowledges the need for increased housing but has not sufficiently addressed the demand for low-carbon homes. ⚡️ Similarly, stamp duty announcements should factor in energy performance of homes to drive billions into insulation, heat pumps and solar panels. ⚡️ Additional funding for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme is welcomed, but more needs to be done to shield millions of homes from high bills and help make the switch from gas boilers to heat pumps. We look forward to the longer-term announcements at the next spending review in the new year and hearing more about the Clean Power 2030 Action Plan!

Over four-fifths of older people with a long-term health condition or disability say they won't get Winter Fuel Payments. Until the Government ramps up renewables and boosts plans to insulate the nation's leaky homes, help for those who rely on energy is essential. https://lnkd.in/gdjVPnaf

Nobody ever said no to a warmer, safer home that's cheaper to run, so why is uptake of retrofit so low? When people emotionally connect with their homes, explaining the benefits of retrofit becomes much more than technical jargon - it's about creating a future they can believe in. 🎙️ We might be late to the party, but Refurb and Retrofit Magazine explores just that with Imandeep Kaur from CIVIC SQUARE in their brilliant podcast episode on Neighbourhood Led Retrofit They discuss: 💚 Addressing the knowledge gap around energy efficiency 💚 Meeting people where they're at, not where we expect them to be 💚 Tapping into our connection to our homes to make retrofit feel more relevant and approachable 💚 Focusing on improved living conditions, as well as environmental benefits Well worth a listen 👉 https://lnkd.in/eYJ2WZEt
