Earlier this month, our Grant Associate Ben Smitton travelled to Kenya to visit two of our projects as part of our due diligence and learning. 🌍 In Bomet County with Dig Deep (Africa), Ben saw a new protected community spring in Kilios village, as well as rainwater harvesting infrastructure and new latrines at two primary schools. In Mombasa with Association of Women in Agriculture, Kenya (AWAK), Ben met with beneficiaries who have established microbusinesses utilising kitchen gardens, briquet making and baking. Reflecting on his trip, Ben said: “It was a pleasure to be invited to open the new Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) facilities in Bomet County. I saw the life-changing impact of clean water and sustainable practices. Dig Deep’s initiatives are empowering communities and transforming lives.” He continued: “The resilience and dedication of the communities in which AWAK is working is truly remarkable. I witnessed firsthand how AWAK’s support empowers individuals to overcome challenges. The incredible strength and potential of the women we met proves that with dedication and the right resources, anyone can thrive.” #crodafoundation #improvinglives #cleanwater #agriculture #empoweringwomen

We are guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and are committed to having an impact related to this global framework in our priority countries. There are nine SDGs that align with our charitable purposes. Our Priority SDGs are linked directly to our focus areas, and our Enabling SDGs help us have a sustainable impact and achieve our vision. This helpful infographic shows how many lives we have sustainably improved to date by SDG. #CrodaFoundation #Improvinglives #SDGs #Impact

We’re delighted to share the news that our Board of Trustees has been bolstered with the appointment of not one, but two Trustees. Camilla Knox-Peebles has 25 years of experience in the international humanitarian and development sector and has been Chief Executive of Amref Health Africa UK since 2019. She is also a Trustee of the Innocent Foundation, speaks five languages and has lived and worked extensively in Asia and Africa. Joining Camilla is Phil Ruxton, Chief Sustainability Officer at Croda, who has been appointed a Member Appointed Trustee. Phil has been a part of Croda for 30 years and has managed several of Croda’s global businesses during this time. He was also integral to both developing and implementing Croda’s sustainability strategy and its 1% Club; providing all employees with 1% of their working year to take part in volunteering activities. Both Camilla and Phil are wonderful assets to the Foundation, and we are proud that they will be joining our team of Trustees. #CrodaFoundation #Trustees #ImprovingLives

When we set out to improve one million lives by 2030, we created three strategic milestones aligned with our Focus Areas to achieve this goal. We are proud to have already exceeded two of these, and as a result, plan to increase our focus on livelihood projects and on broadening geographical spread. 📚 56,578 people have increased income and skills to better support their livelihoods. (2030 Milestone: 450,000 people) 💉 22.7m people have access to healthcare and/or clean drinking water that they did not have previously. (2030 Milestone: 600,000 people) 🌳 129,006 trees have been planted through agroforestry projects. (2030 Milestone: 30,000 trees) Read more about our progress in our Impact Report: https://lnkd.in/e3MgYWdv #crodafoundation #improvinglives #impact

It is crucial for Croda Foundation to monitor its active grants as part of due diligence and learning. This commitment recently took our Chair of Trustees, Dr. Helena Ganczakowski, and our Grant Manager, Nazia Mutto, to Tanzania to visit Fair Planet where we are supporting smallholder farmers. 👨🏿🌾 A big thank you to Fair Planet for their hard work in the region and for hosting Helena and Nazia! Read more about our project with Fair Planet here: https://lnkd.in/e3BiXJtd
Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Helena Ganczakowski and Nazia Mutto from the Croda Foundation to our site in Morogoro, Tanzania. During their two-day visit, we explored our research fields in Mgeta and Morogoro and joined our training team for a session in the village of Manza, Mvomero district. After the visit, Helena, Chair of the Croda Foundation, expressed her thoughts: "The work you are doing there is so impressive and making a real difference to the communities in each of the villages you work with..." She also had high praise for our team: "The whole team were incredibly welcoming and helpful, and it was lovely to get to know them all a little. They have a great ethos and seem to have a lot of fun together alongside a tremendous amount of hard work." We extend our heartfelt thanks to Helena and Nazia for their visit. We are deeply grateful that Croda believes in and supports our project in Tanzania. We look forward to the opportunity to host you again in the future.

This week we’re announcing another new project and this time it’s with one of our longstanding partners, British Asian Trust (BAT). 💚 A grant of £219,922 has been awarded to sustainably improve the lives of vulnerable women involved in Jaipur’s handicraft industry. This industry sees women stitch for minimal wages, which leads to financial instability and often forces their children to stay at home and contribute to the family income. BAT aims to change this narrative by providing women with access to information on social security schemes, help with applications for micro-loans to grow their microbusinesses and provide them with skills training to support further growth. Over two years, this project has the potential to put 2,000 children back into school and give 1,080 women financial stability! 👏 #CrodaFoundation #ImprovingLives #FinancialStability
