CSOs, Combined Sewer Overflows, are regularly in the news these days, and are one of the main priorities of AMP8, the five-year Asset Management Period coming into effect in April next year and regulated by Ofwat. Did you see this excellent short blog by Ian Thompson, VP at Xylem Water Solutions UK & Ireland and Ireland, published in September’s issue of Water Magazine? Amongst all the doom and gloom in #water news of late, it is great to hear someone say, “I am hugely optimistic about what #technology can help water companies achieve over the next five years.” Here at CSignum we feel exactly the same. However, Ian also says, “As with any major transition, #digitalisation is not without challenges, a key one being the pace of innovation. The water sector is understandably conservative in its approach, but trying to introduce innovation in the UK can feel like walking through treacle.” And we would agree with that too!
