If we want Safe AI then we have to trust the data that is being used. Here's one laughable set of examples, which only goes to illustrate the issues we may face; recommednations for glue in pizzas, and eat a rock a day. Funny when it's at this level, less funny if the question is less benign like 'which medicine should I take'. https://lnkd.in/e7dHPtEi

A purpose driven leader passionate about the sustainable use of personal data to drive value for individuals, organisations and society.
With the election gun started and the washup list now confirmed it is great to see the Digital Markets and Consumer and Competition Bill passed. This is a major step forward bringing about the CMA powers that were architected in the Furman Review 'Unlocking Digital Competition' and enable the set up of the Digital Markets Unit to oversee companies designated with 'Special market status'. To impose conduct requirements on those SMS organisations that offers space for new digital opportunities in the UK Market, it is now the role of every business to grasp the opportunities that will be opened up. I'm especially pleased to see Will Hayter as executive director aided by a stunning advisory board. This is a big step for the UK and one that has been long in the making. Congratulations all. A major step forward for American citizens in protecting not just their privacy but their safety.
A purpose driven leader passionate about the sustainable use of personal data to drive value for individuals, organisations and society.
90% of companies that Ctrl-Shift work with say that shifts in the data sharing market will be driven by a market scandal which drives consumers to seek out trusted brands. This makes President Biden's order for restrictions on Americans personal data sharing to countries of concern no surprise, or perhaps surprising that it didn't come earlier. This data includes an individuals genomic data, biometric data, personal health data, geolocation data, financial data, and certain kinds of personally identifiable information. The expressed concern is that the data is legally sold and can end up in the hands of people that then enable intrusive surveillance, scams, blackmail, and other violations of privacy. Here's the consultation fact sheet https://lnkd.in/esEWbe7E It is after all the first responsibility of a Government to keep its citizens safe. And although this move will no doubt create a scramble for organisations it is a significant step forward for American citizens. For organisations, one of the biggest challenges is creating the governance that allows them to oversee permitted vs not permitted data sharing. Looking just at our location data, which can come from your car, phone, home devices, surveillance cameras and is incredibly powerful for better customer service, logistics, personalisation and fraud management. But when in the hands of a nefarious actor can wreak havoc in lives. Managing this trusted data sharing will require well governed data sharing ecosystems, which today put in place the mechanisms to make this not just possible but also beneficial at scale and pace. For anyone wanting to know more about the opportunities and drivers for safe data sharing look no further than participating in the Ctrl-Shift market analysis https://bit.ly/49F2rzb
