Colleagues from our Southport Store have been on an adventure! With a major overhaul of their 17,631 sq ft superstore happening over the last few months, the team were tasked with making a vacant lot their temporary home. 🏠 Guided by General Manager, Vicki the team moved out to a unit nearby where their pop-up shop soon felt anything but temporary. Amidst the challenges of the move, the team stayed focused and smashed their service & sales targets! 👏 “I am immensely proud of our team. They all worked incredibly hard and showed amazing resilience. On top of that they performed at the top of their game." explains Vicki. Creating a more circular economy is at the core of what we do. When you recycle your old products with us, we're committed to ensuring they have a second life. Here's how our colleagues do it: 🔧 Reusing Parts: Our repair lab (the largest in Europe!) harvest any reusable parts, giving them a new lease on life in other devices. ♻️ Recycling: The remaining materials are sent to our recycling partner, where they're broken down, separated, and prepared for reuse. ✨ Refurbishing: If the products can be refurbished, we clean, fix, and test them, making sure they're ready to be resold or donated to charities supporting low-income families. Katherine Lamb, one of our Senior Managers for Talent Acquisition has been pouring all her passion into a special project: signing our business up to the People Plus Social Recruitment Covenant. The Covenant sets in stone a business's commitment to inclusive recruiting, training and employment practices. These practices then contribute to greater social mobility and economic prosperity in wider society. So naturally, Katherine saw an opportunity for Currys to sign up. It's finally happened and this is just the beginning! Treks for tech 🚶♀️ 🚶♀️ 💻 💻 Our Store Leadership Team recently trekked the South Welsh Coastline to help support the 1 in 5 children in the UK living without access to a digital device. They stepped up, walking 15 miles in total and raised almost £1000 for the Digital Poverty Alliance, of which Currys is a founding partner. 🤝 Currys' Group Social Impact Manager, Catrin Hale, shares the importance of the team's efforts: "We want to help eradicate digital poverty by 2030 and teams coming together like this will only drive our progress forwards and help educate others about the seriousness of digital poverty in the UK.
