    Some tips learned from hard experience when job hunting from Paul who started a new job last week: Because I know a few of you are in a position where you are struggling now to find work here's a few things I did to get to interview stage and I interviewed for several different roles in a variety of industries: - Searching for a job is now your job, after spicing up your CV and applying also get talking to your network, you might pick up noise that your mate's firm is hiring and they can put in a good word for you. Never stop talking! - Always try and phone in after putting in an application. If you can contact the line manager that's best. All you need to do is say Hi, I've submitted an application for xyz, I think I'm a good fit but wanted to make sure you've received my application. - If you get an interview, or even if you don't, add anyone you've spoken to or are going to speak to. You might not land the job you applied for, but in a couple weeks time they might decide they need another person and it's easy for them to just ask you. - Once you get to interview stage and you have a few on the go it is easy to lose track of who's who and what company does what. Write stuff down, use whatever you want, pen & paper or some fancy software. Just make sure it's clear and easy to remember when you're interviewing. - Research is key, knowing industries the company works in and the interviewers background all help. - Have your referees for references on standby and if you get the job, tell them. It makes their day as much as yours. Above all, remember, it's a tough market out there, but you got this ;) #cyberjobs
