Too broad to be useful? Too narrow to work on the right thing❓ In our 8x100 call, we dive into the superhuman and everyday task of working on projects aiming for systemic change: Ever struggled with implementing a concept that made it hard to relate (and were annoyed by the fuzzy language…)❓ Or felt frustrated when an implementation lacked conceptual rigor (and were tired to point out the elephant in the room…)❓ 💥 Friday, November 8th 2024, 2 p.m. CET📌 Register here: https://lnkd.in/eg8RdYWi This tension appears on many levels – the missing capacity to reach sustainable development goals, or the European plans for the built environment ignoring the carbon budget are systemic examples. We also see those tensions surfacing in our organisations. Roles we take on make us inclined to one or the other dimension – which might be part of the problem… While leaders and innovators often need to think broadly and explore new opportunities, researchers and producers focus on the details, working hard to turn big ideas into reality. Our initial assumption is that we need to make those roles and their relations explicit. How can these roles interact with graceful rigor, inspiring each other❓ How can we move beyond their binary relationship and equally celebrate conceptual* and implementation* work❓ Join us in exploring how to address blind spots in systemic change processes. It’s not about having the answers but discovering useful perspectives together. _______________ *Acknowledgement: We haven’t yet found the right language to express these perceived dichotomies in a satisfactory way: 🔸Concept & Implementation 🔸Imagination & Viability 🔸Theory & Practice 🔸Abstraction & Reality Looking forward to your suggestions! _________________________________________ #MacroShifts #MicroActions #AgileAlliance #10x100 #DemocratisingTransformation #MicroMacroDeal

For those of you working on solutions to the metacrisis, particularly those who follow Daniel Schmachtenberger's work, I highly recommend this new episode of Nate Hagens' podcast, The Great Simplification, with Indy Johar - The Foundational Challenge: Stewardship, Responsibility and Designing a New System. It's an elegant interview. In listening, I found my own thoughts reflected and deepened in a way that is truly humbling. I particularly appreciate the framing of path dependency, and the way Johar details areas within the global system where new solutions are pushing through the cracks. For those familiar with Daniel's concept of the Third Attractor, this interview illuminates solutions. https://lnkd.in/gc9PhnQq

💃🕺 How can progressive regulation for festivals fuel a clean future? Festivals are like a microcosmos, with abundant creativity and plenty of space for experimentation. They are a source of inspiration and a catalyst for innovation, clean alternatives and circular solutions. It's in their DNA to think beyond boundaries, which can fuel clean energy solutions, make the transition to a circular economy, and set an example for challenges in urban environments. Innovative and successful solutions result from guidelines with progressive regulations for festivals in Amsterdam. This is one of the topics Arjan Hassing of CircuLaw highlights in the next episode of our Circular Pioneers Podcast. With Arjan, we discuss all the ins and outs of circular legislation. Spot on to share circular creativity in the festival world with you now, as this was one of the topics discussed at Amsterdam Dance Event and #ADEGREEN2024. Nature was officially on stage as artist this year, and during ADE Green there was a spotlight on the positive results of the Green Deal Circular Festivals. 🎧 Check out the full podcast episode with Arjan Hassing now on Spotify, Apple Podcast or YouTube. 👉 https://lnkd.in/dVAz22Pe 👉 Via this link you'll find also more conversations with Jacqueline Cramer | Ellyne Bierman - Hagen ♻️ | Thomas M. Really such an honour to be in conversation with Nate Hagens - a brilliant thinker and foundational analyst of the world around us..

Educator, systems thinker, partner and alliance builder for the future of a living Earth and human culture

While humans, like all animals, are subject to certain fundamental realities, we also possess the unique ability to shape the world around us through physical infrastructure, laws and institutions, and our economic and social systems. And yet, it’s important to remember that, as today’s guest would say, "what we design designs us back". In short, the systems and structures we build influence our cultures, values, and identities. Today, I'm joined by architect and professor of planetary civics, Indy Johar, to explore the relationship between system design and human behavior - and what might be possible for transformational change. Along the way, we discuss the impact of sunk costs on our ability to change, the importance of new language to describe and respond to our human predicament, and envision future governance and economies that could enable the full spectrum of what it means to be human. Watch: https://lnkd.in/gUQZz3ge What sorts of unconventional ideas, like self-owning land and technology, could lead to economies that are capable of sustaining humans as well as foster a healthy planet? How do our current societies prevent us from embodying and living into our greatest gifts as human beings? Is it possible to intentionally redesign our systems at the physical, structural, and psychological levels in service of all the entangled life inhabiting the Earth?

M100 Climate Neutrality Forum will host two interactive workshops facilitated by Dark Matter Labs: A taster of Mission-Driven Policy Innovation: Exploring Urban Transitions in Romania Challenge: Accelerating urban transitions towards climate neutrality in Romania requires a systemic approach that addresses the complex interplay of regulatory, financial, and social factors. Existing policy frameworks often fall short in addressing the interconnected challenges faced by Romanian cities, hindering progress towards sustainable and equitable urban development. The two workshops, one focusing on the built environment and another on mobility and transport, offer a small taster to Mission-Driven Policy Innovation (MDPI) as a powerful tool for addressing complex urban challenges. Through hands-on activities and discussions, the workshop will focus on: System Dynamics Analysis: Participants will use MDPI as a lens to analyze the complex systems that shape urban transitions and identify leverage points for change. Policy Mix Assessment: Participants will assess the existing policy mix and its impact on system dynamics. Identification of Policy Interventions: Participants will collaboratively identify and prioritize key policy interventions that can generate desired system dynamics. Join us at the M100 Forum to find out which Romanian cities will become role models, helping, alongside M100, to shape the transition to climate neutrality and inspire other cities eager to follow suit. 📅 When? October 30, 2024 📍 Where? Mina Museum, Bucharest
