By incorporating adaptable infrastructure at the core of its 10-Year Plan, such as On-Demand Healthcare Facilities, the NHS can enhance agility and productivity to tackle pressing challenges such as elective backlogs and prepare for evolving healthcare needs.

The new centre for orthopaedic operations and diagnostic tests has been opened at, James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Great Yarmouth. 🎉 The building was officially opened on the 10th of January by Stella Vig, NHS England's Medical Director for Secondary Care and Quality, and National Clinical Director for Elective Care. 🤝 The centre will significantly increase the local capacity for orthopaedic elective care, as well as providing new diagnostic facilities, taking pressure away from other parts of the hospital estate. 🏥 To find out more about this project, click here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dPZpbqiA #NHS #NHSEngland #JamesPaget #Healthcare #HealthcareConstruction

Today marks the release of the UK National Audit Office's report on maintaining public service facilities. 📊 According to their findings, an average of 5,400 clinical service incidents occurred annually in the NHS between 2019-20 and 2023-24 due to property and infrastructure failures. This is a stark reminder of the hazards patients face when seeking care and treatment in some of today's estates that require repairs. The report's release is especially timely, coinciding with the announcement of the New Hospital Programme (NHP), earlier this week. New Surgical Hub and Community Diagnostic Centre in James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust! It was my absolute pleasure in attending the opening of the brand new diagnostic centre which will provide additional capacity. This will support the new Elective Reform Plan for patients improving treatment times and a return to a healthy life. I also met amazing colleagues in the emergency department, in ophthalmology, estates and so many more. Thank you for your hard work. Your pride in your services is incredible as is your drive to do more. I visited on Friday and was delighted to catch up with ophthalmology trainees on Friday afternoon being taught and really enjoying practicing their skills. Our hospital was delighted to welcome Stella Vig, who helped our Chair Mark Friend to officially open The James Paget Orthopaedic Centre and Oulton Suite Community Diagnostic Centre today - with the first patients attending from next week. The Orthopaedic Centre, on the ground floor of the new building, will operate seven days a week, helping us bring our waiting times down so that patients get the treatment they need more quickly. The Oulton Suite will provide more than 500 additional diagnostic tests per week for local patients, using the latest tests and medical devices, specialising in tests to help diagnose heart and lung conditions. Together, they form a vital part of our Future Paget Programme, and will part of our new hospital campus as part of the national New Hospital Programme NHS England Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eN7VUhMV
