Sustainability Leader | Climate | ESG | Nature | Circularity | SDGs | Climber (Ex: EY, BSR, SASB, UN, Blackstone Portfolio Co.)
Conducting sustainability materiality assessments and disclosing externally is often described as an art form. Marjella Lecourt-Alma Susanne Katus Donato Calace with Datamaran truly brought this art form to life and put it on display in a most deserving venue: Solomon R. #Guggenheim Museum. It was great to reconnect with friends and listen to corporate and regulatory sustainability leaders’ views on the evolving disclosure landscape. Alex Voss and Greta Koch updated us on #EU policy progress (#CSRD #CS3D #CSDDD), noting that we can expect: - more guidance on due diligence over the next two years - shift in focus to implementation of existing policies for the next 5 years - and increased interoperability between global standards and guidance (#GRI, IFRS S1 -S2, #SASB, #TNFD) IFRS Foundation shared that over 25 jurisdictions have committed to adopting IFRS S1 and S2 and that they will be undertaking new research on #biodiversity, #ecosystems, and #humancapital, as well as improving upon the SASB standards. For companies in jurisdictions that have not adopted S1 and S2, @IFRS Foundation released yesterday guidance for voluntary reporters: “Voluntarily applying ISSB Standards – A guide for preparers” (link below) From the CSO perspectives, Niki King underscored the importance of regularly updating companies’ materiality assessments and establishing comprehensive governance structures around the most material sustainability matters. Doing so enables The Clorox Company to better manage their IROs (impact, risks and opportunities) and reflect them in an integrated annual report Datamaran also used this opportunity to screen their new episode two of their 'New Heroes of Sustainable Business' docuseries. If you can make time, I highly recommend checking out the Guggenheim exhibit by Jenny Holzr. 🌟 Datamaran Academy 🌟
The Academy workshop at #NYCW was an insightful and engaging session for our client community that focused on “the future of ESG regulation: the governance imperative”. We were very grateful to have 5 panelist’s share their expertise: Greta Koch, Malcom Glenn (Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and Susanne Dräger (IFRS Foundation) discussed updates and insights in the policy and regulation landscape with their take on what’s next for 2025 and beyond. The next part of the panel, CSOs Dirk Voeste (Volkswagen Group) and Niki King (The Clorox Company) discussed how they are tackling the topic, and gave practical examples and advice - emphasising that value creation for sustainability must be forefront while simultaneously being compliant. Huge thanks to our (Datamaran’s) internal experts Susanne Katus and Donato Calace for moderating. A personal note: Just over 6 years ago, I was desperate to get into sustainability. I made this jump by making the business case for ESG (I set up an esg recruitment desk from scratch, and transitioned from legal recruitment), to today - organising an event with CSO and regulatory experts at New York climate week, at the Guggenheim 🤯 Had a big pinch me moment! It’s taken me years of perseverance, networking and grit to get here. And I’m just getting started 🙌🏼 Thanks for the great photos Jenna Fernandez 🤩

Attending #ClimateWeeknyc in New York was truly eye-opening. We witnessed investment funds, company initiatives, and entrepreneurial stories from various climate, sustainability domains. While the city’s management is under strain, it feels like we are exactly where we need to be, having the conversations that matter most. Even though I don’t work directly in this field, simply participating in events like these as a world citizen is incredibly enlightening. It shapes my thoughts about the future and helps me form new connections. I’ll soon share the key highlights of technology developments in the climate from the event at my corner in Aposto. First and foremost, I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the teams at SEMAFOR and Datamaran for their hospitality, open-mindedness, and organization of such well-executed events. + I couldn't pass this that It was a pleasure and a privilege to be part of CBNC x Datamaran's exclusive session at the Guggenheim Museum.
