Budget headlines as of today's #AutumnStatement2023 that will impact payroll professionals include: - Cut in employee National Insurance from 12% to 10%. The big news is that this won't wait until the new tax year but will be implemented from 6 January 2024! - Class 2 NICs will be abolished altogether and Class 4 NICs reduced by 1% to 8% - Employers of veterans will get extra National Insurance relief, although no details have been announced. - The 'pension pot for life' concept may give starters the right to require their new employer to pay savings to an existing pension pot. A consultation document on this is expected. - State pension to increase by 8.5% in April 2023 as the government retains the triple lock #budget #payroll
