  • One of my favourite things about photographing weddings at Dalhousie Castle & Spa is when the B&G book an outdoor Falconry display for their family & friends during the drinks reception. These magnificent winged beasts are something else! Absolutely beautiful and spectacular in every way. And a real joy to photograph! (Thank you Gabriela & James for inviting me to photograph your wedding way back in 2009! omg) #weddings

  • Good wedding morning to everyone tying the knot today! Don’t fret if it’s raining when you look out the window. I photographed this shot of the bride & groom outside, with Dalhousie Castle Hotel & SPA in the background, during a very brief 2 minute break from dark storm clouds and torrential rain. So there’s always hope. Just remember to pack your brolly and wellies. And be ready to dash outside. There’s nowt as changeable as weather in Scotland ☔️🌞 #weddings #castle #hotels

  • We’re still showcasing my favourite wedding pictures which I have photographed at the beautiful Dalhousie Castle 🏰 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 This one I love because of the beautiful lighting. I call it Spielberg lighting because ‘shooting into the light’ was his signature style in his early films like ET. I’ve adopted it and tweaked it, and it’s become a big part of my overall wedding photography coverage. Dalhousie Castle has many spots where I can photograph produce these types of shot ♥️ #weddings

  • I’ve always said the best overalll photography training that any aspiring photographer could do is 3 or 4 years photographing weddings. Say 150 weddings. Perhaps assisting or second shooting to start with. But not a college course. Wedding photography will teach you - portraiture under any lighting condition, boudoir, shooting PR style shots of varying group sizes, still lifes, product photography, rings/shoes etc, food photography, family photography of course, kids, action shots (sports), photojournalism, and of course … landscapes 📸 And each and every shot is taken under tremendous time pressure. And the intense pressure to get it right first time. And the pressure of ever changing lighting conditions, indoors and out. And the delicate handling of say ‘tricky relationship dynamics’! If anyone ever needed proof that pressure creates diamonds… 💎 Loch Lomond Golf Club #weddings

  • I’ve had the pleasure and the privilege of working with many talented pipers in my 20+ years shooting weddings but perhaps none more charismatic and joyful and flamboyant (or as well versed in the history of Dalhousie Castle Hotel & SPA and Clan Ramsay) than former Dalhousie piper Andrew Sharp. Andrew was a charmer in the loveliest sense, he could talk for Scotland. He always had the wedding guests enthralled and hanging on his every word with his tales of local folklore and Scots tradition and tours round the castle. I loved working with him because he would always get the best reactions from the wedding party! He made my life as a wedding photographer very easy. I’ve lost count of the many casual conversations we enjoyed together about the nature of life, history and people! And when I was going through my own life challenges, he’d always have time during a wedding for ‘a wee quiet word’. I know his wedding cake speech to the bride & groom off by heart because I’ve heard it so many times. “Can you feel the love flowing from both of you, down through the blade, into the cake, and permeating the cake, to make the cake extra special”. And I used to smile when all the guests erupted with laughter (again!) right on cue. Andrew passed in 2020. An absolute gentleman. There will not be another like him 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 #wedding
