💙 A Heartfelt Thank You to The Great Stone Bridge Trust of Edenbridge! 💙 We are incredibly grateful to The Great Stone Bridge Trust, a long-term supporter of DAVSS. Their generous contributions over the years have made a significant difference in our ability to continue supporting those in need. With roots as far back as 1511, the Trust has evolved from caring for the original stone bridge to providing valuable charitable assistance to the residents of Edenbridge. Today, their support helps countless local charities, clubs, societies, and organisations - including ours! We are proud to be part of the amazing impact The Great Stone Bridge Trust continues to have in the community. 🙏 #CommunitySupport #GreatStoneBridgeTrust #Edenbridge #DAVSS #SupportingSurvivors

Why Jackie Nudd is Walking for DAVSS - “I lost my precious daughter to the horrors of domestic abuse and coercive control. DAVSS was a light in the darkness when Louise passed, and their work continues to help families like mine. I’m walking the Camino Ingles Pilgrimage this October in Louise’s memory, and to raise money so DAVSS can continue their vital support.” Join us in backing Jackie’s brave fundraiser. Every penny counts. 💪 Read her full story and donate here: https://lnkd.in/dnhNR38k

Each year, Paddock Wood Lights Up supports a particular charity and donates all the proceeds from the Grotto plus half of the Raffle proceeds to that chosen charity. This year, they're asking your help to choose the charity they support. We're so grateful to be in the mix, alongside Spadework and Air Ambulance KSS, and we would really appreciate your support to become the chosen charity. You just need to head over to this post on Facebook and click the required reaction for your chosen charity:- https://lnkd.in/eNdjpH2s Thank you so much, in advance!

A Time for Reflection – Sober October & Domestic Abuse 🌱🍂 October isn’t just about the weather changing and the build up to Halloween. It’s also a time for reflection and change with #SoberOctober. While we often focus on the health benefits of taking a break from alcohol, it’s important to remember another harsh reality – the link between alcohol and domestic abuse. Alcohol can escalate aggression, lower inhibitions, and contribute to the dangerous cycle of violence. For many victims, home becomes a place of fear when alcohol is involved. This October, let’s raise awareness about the connection between alcohol consumption and domestic abuse. By understanding this link, we can better support victims and promote a safer, healthier future. Could you give up booze for a month? And more importantly, will you? #DomesticAbuseAwareness #SoberOctober #BreakTheCycle #SupportSurvivors

What an afternoon we had on Friday! We had the official launch of our new office in Five Oak Green (which we have to thank CooperBurnett LLP for helping us to source and lease). Historically our team were based at the police station in Tunbridge Wells but we're so fortunate to be expanding and as such we outgrew the space and it was no longer suitable. Our new base is a beautiful old oast house - which gives us a perfect open plan space for the team to work collaboratively in, yet it also offers ample breakout areas and even a room that's being transformed into a space for online court hearings. This is just a sample of photos, which must be credited to Tom Fishenden, who was a welcome presence on the day and put his photography skills to good use for us. We'll be posting more about this event throughout this week, as we have so many people to thank for coming and we want to be sure to mention EVERYONE! #domesticabusesupport

✨ Did you know that last week was The International Week of Happiness at Work (23-27 Sept)? Happiness at work isn't just a “nice-to-have” - it’s essential. With 27% of employees having one or more bad workdays a week, it’s clear there's a gap between our happiness at work and in life. When we're happy at work, it positively affects every aspect of our lives - our health, productivity, and relationships. But what if the workplace isn’t a safe space for everyone? 🌍 At DAVSS, we understand that for victims of domestic abuse, the workplace can be a source of fear or violence. That’s why having a Domestic Abuse Policy is crucial. It’s not just a formality; it can be a lifeline. With clear steps, support, and training, businesses can create a safe, supportive environment for everyone. 🛡️ A few steps toward a comprehensive policy: Confidentiality and safety for victims Flexible working arrangements Training and awareness for managers When we think about workplace happiness, let's also remember those for whom the workplace might not feel like a safe haven. Creating a domestic abuse policy is not just a legal box to check - it’s about making work a place of support, healing, and growth. 💼❤️ Want to learn more? Dive into our blog "Creating a Comprehensive Domestic Abuse Policy in the Workplace" and discover how your business can make a difference. https://lnkd.in/eZHUE-6X #InternationalWeekOfHappinessAtWork #WorkplaceSafety #DomesticAbuseAwareness #DAVSS #MentalHealth #SupportAtWork

OFFICE WARMING: Solicitor, Imogen Fleur, from our Commercial Property team enjoyed some delicious tea and cake this afternoon at the ‘new office welcome party’ for the domestic abuse charity DAVSS. Imogen and Partner Oliver Bussell supported DAVSS (Domestic Abuse Volunteer Support Services) with the lease for the property in Five Oak Green, working closely with CEO, Samantha Haspell, and the charity’s Head of Business Development, Louise Wright MinstF (Dip). DAVSS is an award-winning charity which supports any victims of domestic abuse aged 16 years and above in West Kent. It was launched in 2011 by three women who had not been able to access domestic abuse support when they needed it. Over the years, it has supported 21,000 people – women and an increasing number of men. For the past ten years, DAVSS has been based out of the police station in Tunbridge Wells but it has outgrown the space and it was no longer suitable. In the new building – a beautiful old oast house - the team can work comfortably, while there is a room which can be used for online court hearings. CooperBurnett has had a long relationship with DAVSS, as Gemma Gillespie and Melissa Gire from our Family & Matrimonial team, have provided its clients with pro bono support for many years. In the last financial year alone, 88 advice meetings have taken place. Sam Haspell welcomed everyone and thanked CooperBurnett for their support. She then talked about the vital service DAVSS provides locally, as well as plans the charity has for the future. We are thrilled to be working with the Hendy Foundation for the first time! Thanks to their generous support, we can now extend our Peer Support Groups further into West Kent, providing more people with the essential recovery tools they need. Peer Support Groups are a vital part of our clients' recovery journey, helping to build self-esteem, social skills, and connections with others who have shared similar experiences - all in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. 💬🤝 Since its creation in 2019, the Hendy Foundation has granted over £350,000 to more than 200 organisations, making a positive difference across the South of England. We are so grateful to be part of this amazing effort to strengthen our communities! 💚 #ThankYou #HendyFoundation #CommunitySupport #PeerSupport #DAVSS #SupportingSurvivors
