In associating with Envirobond, Day Aggregates are proud to announce the introduction of Organic-Lock Stabilised Aggregate to the UK market. Organic-Lock™ is a patented powdered binder made from a renewable plant resource and specialised proprietary additives. It is designed to be blended with crushed aggregate to create natural-looking pathways and surfaces. The binder locks the aggregate into place to minimise erosion and maintenance, all the while remaining water-permeable and allowing sitting water to permeate into the groundwater table. Organic-Lock™ stabilised products do not look to emulate concrete or asphalt, but improve the performance of natural aggregate, whilst allowing the easy repair to areas that might get damaged over extended time. www.organic-lock.co.uk

Drumroll please... for the Award winners of the Alsford Supplier Showcase 2024. Our Awards are voted for by our own teams, and by our own suppliers. They are a true recognition of those working passionately in our industry and in partnership with Alsford. As overheard said on the night, there are so many names that come to mind when you hear the award categories, so many people doing an incredible job, but when you hear the winners names, it feels right. It doesn't take away from the efforts of those who didn't win, but it is great to recognise those who did. Congratulations to all of the Supplier and Colleague winners of our 2024 Showcase Awards. Happy Clean Air Day! Today is all about air pollution and the effect it has on the environment and our society. To limit pollution’s impact, here are five actions we all should consider. ⭐ Embrace renewables: Invest in solar and wind power to curb fossil fuel dependence and emissions. Utilise lower-polluting work vehicles ⭐ Give preference to materials and products sourced from local suppliers within your region. This will lower a company’s carbon footprint and boost local economies also ⭐ Streamline transportation routes, group shipments, and employ fuel-efficient vehicles to reduce emissions from logistics activities ⭐ Embrace circular economy principles, where products are designed for reuse, recycling, and reduced waste. These are the actions Day Group are using to reduce our impact on the environment. #pollution #aggregates #carbonfootprint #cleanairday

Type 1 Recycled Aggregate is a sub-base material manufactured from demolition waste ranging from 0mm to 32mm. This versatile product is ideally suited for constructing roads, pathways, driveways, car parks, and robust structural bases. When compacted, the interlocking nature of the aggregates provides exceptional load-bearing capabilities, ensuring durability and longevity. While Type 1 Recycled Aggregate excels as a sub-base layer, it is important to note that it should not be used as a finishing surface. The material’s true strength lies in providing a solid foundation for various construction projects. With a history of use over many years, Day Aggregates’ reputation for producing high-quality materials has seen Type 1 Recycled Aggregates supplied to projects such as HS2, the M4 and M25 motorways and many housing projects. All these projects have taken the benefit of a low-carbon sustainable source meeting their project requirements. Our sales teams are ready to discuss your project to discover if you can take the cost and environmental benefits of our Type 1 Recycled Aggregates.

The circular economy requires action, not words. That's why we're delighted to officially open our new aggregates plant in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire - turning the residual ash from our waste treatment process into recycled materials. The £20m facility we have built as part of a strategic partnership with Day Aggregates ensures this by-product from our energy recovery facilities is repurposed - providing secondary aggregates for construction projects in the Midlands and enabling extraction of metals for recycling. At the official opening ceremony, Wellingborough MP Gen Kitchen performed the ribbon-cutting and welcomed the investment in green infrastructure that makes the most of existing resources, rather than mining the earth for new ones. She said: "I’m passionate about the potential of this area as a hub for business, due to its central location, transport links and strong industrial track record. It’s also important that we ensure commercial activity is sustainable and this aggregate manufacturing facility is an excellent example of that, taking a residual material that would previously have been discarded and turning it into a useful material that supports local construction. It’s vital that we promote a more circular economy in this way.” The plant is designed to process around 200,000 tonnes of incinerator bottom ash (IBA) every year from Encyclis's Rookery South and Newhurst energy-from-waste facilities. The resulting aggregate, EcoBlend, will be supplied to the local market by GRS Group. #energyfromwaste #aggregates #circulareconomy
