According to the BSI Net Zero Barometer 2024 report, one of the key highlights for the energy sector is 'Sustainability leadership: 72% of UK manufacturers have already taken action to achieve net zero by 2050, but specific challenges remain.' For industries relying on steam, meaningful gains towards sustainability can be made by fixing leaking steam traps when they start- something monitoring can tell you. Energy harvesting equipment sensors and software that enable industry to implement or extend existing monitoring efforts
About us
DCO Systems offer remote monitoring solutions for steam systems and motor & drive systems, and the software to understand the data collected. All sensors are powered using energy harvesting technology which means you can avoid the burden of endless battery replacements. Furthermore, our self-powering sensors are robust, always on, maintenance-free, and allow you to significantly extend your monitoring efforts by collecting more data, more often and in more places. Our energy harvesting sensors and dashboard software are designed incorporating the characteristics of the equipment. Out-of-the-box solutions include monitoring for steam traps and steam systems, and motor and drive systems. Because our monitoring solutions are self-powering, they are ideal for engineer’s overseeing multiple plants, off-site locations and locations with little infrastructure or access. With continuous, real-time monitoring, you receive more information, more frequently, thus providing a more detailed, bigger picture of your process. Remotely monitor an entire system along with individual machines, collect and store real-time data, and receive alerts and notification in real time. Not all steam traps are easily accessible or have the space for monitoring equipment to be placed near the trap. DCO Systems understand these challenges and therefore have designed a range of steam trap monitors to fit nearly all scenarios- like this caged steam trap! This Flex STM (steam trap monitor) is on a pharmaceutical site in the UK and is measuring pipe temperatures, ambient temperature, humidity, and pressure. The armoured cable leads allow the IP66 enclosure to be conveniently attached where space allows. This thermal harvester is powering DCO’s steam trap monitor. It’s a brilliant power source for this environment- it takes the temperature differential found in steam systems and turns it into always-on, maintenance-free energy. This means you can monitor more metrics more frequently compared to battery-powered or plug-in (wired) sensors. Interesting article in the BBC News on Green Steam. The 'monitoring' of the steam system is a crucial player in this. With monitored traps, you are notified when and where a leak starts and can act on it immediately. Alternatively, non-monitored traps can leak/blow for months until they are manually checked. As you can image, the cost saving and energy efficiency benefits are significant. https://lnkd.in/eeJsVAD2 #madeinbritain #breweries #distilleries #pharmaceuticalindustry #industriallaundry #ukmanufacturing
