We are honoured to be an official partner of The Commonwealth at 75, a commemorative publication produced by The History of Parliament and St James’s House. It meant so much for our work to be recognised at the official launch, at Westminster Abbey yesterday! Deafblind UK CEO, Nikki Morris and Deputy CEO, Rod Cullen attended Westminster Abbey for the launch of the publication, ‘Commonwealth at 75’, a commemorative book celebrating 75 years of the Commonwealth. We are so proud to be recognised in the publication and celebrate this huge moment for the recognition, support and advocacy of people who are deafblind across the globe. 💜 #CommonWealthAt75 #DeafblindAwareness [Image description] Photo one is of Nikki and Rod standing in the halls of West Minster Abbey. The ceiling is high and grand with arches created using stone. To the right, there are large stone frames and plaques on the wall with images and scriptures. To the left are large windows and lanterns which illuminate the corridors stone floor and walls. Rod wears a navy suit and Nikki wears a black dress with a red floral print. Photo two is an image of Rod holding open the 'Commonwealth at 75' book, the pages displayed are those featuring images and text from Deafblind UK members.

The 3rd of October marked our annual Deafblind UK conference, celebrating the theme this year of 'Standing out and fitting in' - exploring how people living with deafblindness identify themselves and how society supports them. We were joined by people from across the globe, tuning in and attending discussions with amazing guest speakers who shared valuable knowledge, experience and perspectives. You can find out more about the speakers on this link- https://lnkd.in/e5U6Fc9W Not only this, but we managed to make this a fully accessible event with closed captions, lip speakers (shoutout to Lipspeaker UK) and BSL interpreters who did an incredible job. And of course, what would any online event be without some technical hiccups? 😅 But we got there in the end, and we hope you all found the day as useful and interesting as we did! Thank you to everyone who attended, and please get in touch to share your thoughts from the day. P.S. Just in case you missed something, all talks were recorded and will be available for 60 days from 08 October to stream using the same platform you used to sign up! #DBCon24 💜

A great move forward, the earlier sight and hearing loss is detected the more support can be implemented, minimising the impact on children’s education. https://lnkd.in/eqzyWu4S
