‘What do diamonds do for people?’ Our Brand Ambassador, Lupita Nyong’o, sought to answer this question by visiting South Africa and Namibia, where diamonds are a key source of wealth and opportunity, providing jobs, local procurement, taxes, and support for biodiversity conservation. Her journey began at the Venetia Mine in South Africa, where over 4,000 people are employed. Lupita also explored the Venetia Limpopo Game Reserve, a conservation success story that’s creating wildlife habitats and offering future tourism and livelihood opportunities. In Namibia, she visited NDTC (Namibian Diamond Trading Company) and Namdeb, both 50:50 joint ventures between the Namibian Government and De Beers. NDTC sorts and values rough diamonds, while Namdeb discovers some of the world’s highest-value gems. Lupita Nyong’o’s journey wrapped up with a visit to the EntreprenHer programme and the #BeFree Youth Campus, both funded by De Beers. These initiatives empower women entrepreneurs and support youth development, creating sustainable futures for communities across Southern Africa. #EntreprenHer, in collaboration with UN Women and local governments, has supported over 2,600 women micro-entrepreneurs in South Africa, Namibia, and Botswana since 2017, with plans to help 1,500 more. The #BeFree Youth Campus, founded by former First Lady of Namibia Monica Geingos, provides holistic services for youth, from mental health support to legal guidance and skills development, addressing critical issues like Gender-Based Violence and empowering young people. During a keynote address at the Angola International Diamond Conference today, our CEO Al Cook shared an update on De Beers Group’s exploration activities in Angola, which is the most prospective country in the world for new diamond deposits. Al announced that De Beers has identified eight high potential kimberlite targets through extensive airborne electromagnetic and magnetic surveys, with discovery phase drilling activity now fully operational. He also spoke of De Beers’ ongoing focus on working with Angola’s government to support an attractive investment environment that also creates long-term socio-economic benefit from diamonds for the country. Today we announced that we will be providing single country of origin data for all De Beers-sourced rough diamonds above 1.25 carats that are newly registered on Tracr. From the start of next year, this will extend to rough diamonds above 1 carat in size (equivalent to around 0.5 carats and above in polished form), aligning with the size threshold for new diamond import requirements for G7 countries. Providing specific country of origin data, made possible by Tracr’s technology, will enable jewellery consumers to engage with the unique journeys their diamonds have taken from source. It reflects our commitment to transparency, ethical sourcing and consumer confidence. The announcement was made at a ‘Spotlight on Diamonds’ event in Paris where we also provided insights into our broader sustainability progress under our priority focus areas of livelihoods, climate and nature. Introducing our new natural diamond campaign: Worth the Wait We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our captivating campaign in collaboration with Signet Jewelers to connect a new generation of diverse U.S. couples with the unique attributes of natural diamonds as the perfect symbols of modern love. Highlighting the journeys of real-world Millennial and Gen Z couples, the campaign illustrates the pressures and joys that couples experience as they grow both as individuals and in their relationships. Because just as love is the result of a journey marked by time, growth, and resilience, so too are natural diamonds, which are formed deep within the Earth over billions of years. Grounded in Signet’s data-driven insights and drawing on De Beers’ history of emotional natural diamond storytelling, it speaks directly to a desire from today’s couples for a modern reflection of relationships — one that’s authentic, diverse, and true to their own experiences. We’re so proud of this campaign and believe it perfectly captures the essence of why, just like each couple’s unique journey to get engaged, a natural diamond is worth the wait. "I’m especially impressed by the roles women are playing in the diamond industry." We were honoured to host our Brand Ambassador, Lupita Nyong’o, in South Africa and Namibia, where she met the skilled women shaping the diamond industry at our Venetia Mine and Namibia Diamond Trading Company (NDTC) Pty Ltd. She also witnessed how diamonds are increasing opportunities for women in entrepreneurship and leadership through the EntreprenHer programme, and at the #BeFree Youth Campus, she saw how the program’s services like mental health support, legal guidance, sexual health services, skills development, and more, empower youth to build a brighter future. “Botswana and De Beers’ 55-year public-private partnership is a living testimony to the stability, reliability, and sustainability of investing in our remarkable country. It’s a relationship that continues to help our country and its people thrive because of our shared vision for growth, sustainability and prosperity – and, of course, the beauty of our natural diamonds.”   Our Chief People Officer and proud Motswana, Malebogo Melba Mpugwa, spoke at a roundtable event as part of the African Financial Services Investment Conference (AFSIC) earlier this week to highlight Botswana’s attractiveness as an investment destination. Invited to participate by the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC), Malebogo outlined the history of De Beers Group’s partnership with Botswana – which started shortly after the country's independence with the discovery of diamonds at Orapa – and how the partnership has played an integral role in supporting Botswana's impressive growth and sustainable development since that time, with a focus on building an even more impactful partnership in years to come.

What an unforgettable evening with the South Africa High Commission in London as we celebrated 30 years of democracy in South Africa.   De Beers’ origins began in South Africa 136 years ago and as our business has evolved, so too has the role that De Beers and natural diamonds continue to play in the country.   At the event, it was the stunning designs created as part of our Shining Light Awards jewellery design competition that took centre stage, with collections featuring De Beers natural diamonds and crafted by talented southern African designers sparkling on the fashion show runway, complementing original clothing designs by eminent South African designer, Gavin Rajah.   The Shining Light Awards originated in South Africa more than 20 years ago and are dedicated to helping to empower emerging designers from our diamond producing partner countries by providing international scholarships and training opportunities. It was an honour to display the pieces at the event as the leading lights of southern African jewellery design talent shone as brightly as ever.   #SouthAfrica@30 #GlobalSouthAfricansUK #YourStoryMatters

Building Forever Stories: Chapter 8 Tracr: a pioneering solution for diamond traceability Have you ever wondered about the journey your diamond went on before it reached you?  Natural diamonds have an incredible story to tell as they are transformed from unique, raw miracles of nature to beautiful polished gems sold in jewellery boutiques around the world. With consumers being increasingly interested in the journey of their diamond and its provenance, we’ve been working hard to bring Tracr to the diamond industry – a pioneering blockchain platform that enables participants to record information about a diamond at every stage its journey, from source to store. As the only diamond traceability platform that starts at the source, Tracr will play a key role in advancing the industry’s efforts to enhance confidence in the diamond supply chain. At De Beers, we’re already registering more than two-thirds of our global production by value on Tracr and we’re delighted that a growing number of leading industry players have also joined the platform as Tracr continues to develop a solution that enables participants to give consumers enhanced confidence in the provenance of their diamond.
