We're proud to celebrate the achievements of all women in DIO and continue to champion equality and opportunity for all. One of these women is Venus Tingzon, a Senior Project Manager within our Major Programmes and Projects team. Venus has delivered several high-profile projects, including the new Soldiers' Centre at Pirbright and recent refurbishment works at Upavon. Working in a male-dominated industry can be intimidating, but Venus hasn't let that stop her. Read about her experience: https://lnkd.in/ewqAkMUJ #IWD2025 #AccelerateAction

Working with McLaughlin & Harvey Ltd and Mott MacDonald, we’ve completed an upgrade of Leuchars Station on behalf of British Army, including refurbished offices, garaging, a shared workshop, a central servicing and inspection facility and a new-build bespoke store. The facilities will be used by The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards and 2nd Battalion Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and will be followed by the completion of a new medical and dental centre in the coming months. Further investment in infrastructure at Leuchars Station is planned to commence in 2027. Read more: https://lnkd.in/ekkhZrAc

A new facility capable of holding over 900 British Army vehicles in controlled humidity conditions has been opened. The building, which is larger than five football pitches (c.25,300m2), is designed to reduce vehicle deterioration and maintenance costs caused by temperature swings. It is the fifth building completed in the last year under the Vehicle Storage and Support Programme and has been delivered by Skanska working with Mace. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eDeW4MU7

Happy St David’s Day! 🏴 The MOD estate in Wales has a rich history, and we take great care in ensuring this heritage is preserved properly. Last year, our Operation Nightingale team discovered artefacts from a 2,000-year-old Celtic chariot buried under the airfield at RAF Valley, in Anglesey. A horse bridle-bit and terret ring, used to guide a horse’s reins, were found by veterans and service personnel, and are thought to be part of the famed Llyn Cerrig Bach hoard. The new Catterick Integrated Care Centre, a first-of-its-kind joint MOD and NHS facility, has reached a new construction milestone and is now weathertight! DIO is working with contractors Tilbury Douglas and Technical Support Provider AECOM on behalf of Defence Medical Services and NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) to build the 12,000 m2 facility. The building will host medical services for military personnel based at Catterick Garrison, as well as some primary and community NHS services for members of the public and military families. The innovative new facility will be completed next year.

As we mark the end of LGBT+ History Month, our chief executive Mike Green had this to say: "At a time when there is a fierce global debate on diversity, equality and inclusion, I have been reflecting on some of the changes that have happened in my lifetime. When people from a wide range of backgrounds and experience work together, it increases innovation, creativity and strategic thinking - all essential elements in creating a successful business. "In a couple of years' time, it will be the 60th anniversary of the Sexual Offences Act, which decriminalised homosexuality in most parts of the UK. But that didn't mean the end of discrimination - cultural change happens slowly. By was of an example, we have just marked the 25th anniversary of the lifting of the ban on homosexuality in the Armed Forces - a full 35 years behind the Act of Parliament. "That's one reason why I am so passionate about supporting our wonderful D&I networks and the great efforts they make to help people understand the lived experience of those who are discriminated against and the actions we can all take to counter it." #LGBTHistoryMonth
