We're giving seafarers new protections by closing the legal loophole exploited by P&O Ferries to dismiss their crew without notice. And from 1 December 2024 the Seafarers' Wages Act will come into force. This will ensure that operators who regularly use UK ports will have to pay seafarers at least the equivalent of the UK national minimum wage while in UK waters. For more information on the new wage and employment protections for seafarers: https://lnkd.in/e-fRjmh5
