Department for the Economy NI Minister Conor Murphy has announced a £4m contract success in Germany for Belfast company Joulen which will create 13 new high quality jobs The company will supply its AI platform to German renewable energy firm SonneNext energy GmbH The Minister said: “Joulen’s success in the German market highlights how companies from the north are leading the way in the green economy, leveraging cutting-edge digital solutions to drive international growth. Economy Minister Conor Murphy has joined Tourism Northern Ireland and Belfast City Council at an event to showcase the Lyric Theatre play ‘Agreement’. The play, which is based around the negotiations leading up to the Good Friday Agreement in 1998, is currently running at Dublin’s Gate Theatre. Speaking at the event the Minister said: “Tourism is truly a success story of the peace process. While the absence of violence has brought new visitors to the north, it is also the case that our political history now forms part of our unique offering.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/eY9Cr9jF

Department for the Economy NI Minister Conor Murphy has attended the British Irish Chamber of Commerce #ChamberConf24 ‘Forward Momentum: Realising the Potential of British – Irish Trade and Investment’. The Minister joined Jude Webber on stage for a conversation where he outlined his commitment to growing the north's economy and delivering regional balance so that prosperity is felt across the region. He discussed the opportunity of dual market access and ensuring businesses across the north, throughout Ireland, Britain, Europe and beyond, understand our arrangements. The Minister also spoke about his concerns about the Electronic Travel Authorisation Scheme considering 70% of visitors to the north arrive via Dublin. Today Department for the Economy NI Minister Conor Murphy attended the latest North South Ministerial Council (NSMC) Trade and Business Development Sectoral meeting in Armagh which focused on a range of matters relating to the work of InterTradeIreland, including its role in developing cross-border trade and business support. The NSMC also received a presentation on all-island clustering and InterTradeIreland’s important role in this work. The NSMC also approved the reappointment of the InterTradeIreland CEO for a further 4 year term.
