Coming soon! We have been working with our Member organisations (The Authors' Licensing & Collecting Society, DACS, PICSEL LIMITED and Publishers' Licensing Services (PLS)) on a new UK Text and Data Mining (TDM) Licence, which makes it legal for companies to copy and use content for TDM purposes. This licence will support organisations looking to create efficiencies, speed up processes, and discover new insights by using published content for TDM purposes. Mat Pfleger, CEO said "Building on CLA’s unique role in the UK’s creative sector, we have consulted extensively with our Member organisations – PLS, ALCS, DACS and PICSEL – to create a licence that protects and values their creative works while providing an efficient and practical solution for any organisation undertaking text and data mining using published content." Congratulations to ACME for the opening of their new community space based at SHAPESLewisham. It has been great to work with Acme for the Visual Arts Manifesto, providing key policy recommendations for the UK government to help sustain and support the UK’s visual arts and artists. ✨Big congratulations to Acme Studios on the opening of their new community space at the Propeller Factory – based in our Shapes Lewisham zone, one of the Mayor’s original Creative Enterprise Zones! (helping artists put down roots across the capital with long term affordable space). ✨It was a pleasure to launch the fundraising campaign to save the largest remaining long-term artist studio building of its kind in London. Great speeches from Founder David Panton and artists Renee Odjidja and David Surman. ✨For over 50 years, Acme has been a steadfast supporter of artists in the capital, supporting more than 7000 since the 1970s. ✨This amazing building has housed hundreds of artists over the last 30 years on affordable terms – many I have been fortunate to meet and see their stunning work in person. ✨So ACME’s campaign to purchase the Propeller Factory is critical - to lose this unique site would leave a gaping hole in the city’s cultural fabric and many creatives unable to continue their practice. ✨I am delighted to support the fundraising drive and encourage many of you, who I know are just as passionate about the arts, to get behind this important campaign! ⚡️Because London needs artists and artists need London! The Visual Arts Manifesto, co-authored by DACS and 22 other visual arts organisations, was discussed in the UK House of Lords today. Nicholas Trench, the Earl of Clancarty, said: “I ask the government to look at the recommendations in the Visual Arts Manifesto, led by DACS. One recommendation is the appointment of a Freelancer Commissioner for the arts, to look at their rights and levels of pay. It is good the government is addressing workers’ rights, and this should be a part of that.” Read more about what took place: https://lnkd.in/eB2amEp7 Acme ActionSpace AN:ARTISTS INFORMATION COMPANY Art Fund Artquest Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) Crafts Council Creative Land Trust CuratorSpace CVAN #CreativeWorkspaceNetwork Engage, the National Association for Gallery Education #FrankFairArtistPay Freelands Foundation Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC) GuildHE Harlesden High Street London Higher Outside In Art #QuenchGallery Scottish Contemporary Art Network SPACE Studios London University Alliance (UK) #DACS #DacsForArtists #VisualArtsManifesto #ArtsCopyright #HouseofLords #ArtsEducation
