Design is an activity of the senses and the emotions! The appeal of a design is an immensely individual response – how each of us responds to a particular aesthetic is ultimately a personal thing, regardless of our ability to evaluate it rationally. However, there are some general design principles, aside from pure aesthetics, which have been an increasing preoccupation for designers and which are informing the nature of many of the requests being received by manufacturers. Read more! ➡️ https://loom.ly/LshVNYo We spoke with Rhubarb Seating Ltd about sensory design after they collaborated on a number of initiatives that called for a different approach to environments which historically have had a very predictable look and feel. #commercialinteriors

Redefining Care Home Interiors | Care Home Award 2024 for Best Architecture or Interior Design | Luxury Interior Designer
I really enjoyed speaking to Design Insider about the evolving world of care home design and why it matters so much to me. Since launching in 2011, my mission has been to create environments that feel like home. Care homes should offer comfort, dignity, and community, with thoughtful design shaping everything from cosy lounges to peaceful gardens. In this interview, I discuss how design can positively impact quality of life in care settings, the challenges of the sector, and the importance of adapting spaces to meet residents' changing needs. If you’re interested in design that makes a meaningful impact, I hope you’ll enjoy this conversation: https://loom.ly/Fia2hDE

Newmor Wallcoverings are well known for promoting British design and craftsmanship – their wallcoverings are made here in the UK and specified in projects across the world. Take a closer look! ➡️ https://loom.ly/F8rYRF8 We caught up with Managing Director David Johnston, to find out what got the team so super excited, he said: “It is a genuine delight to see our wallcoverings being reimagined by a true artisan. We promote artists through our designer collection, but we never expected to see our wallcoverings used in furniture restoration.” #commercialinteriors

Space innovation studio Jasper Sanders + Partners has reinvented the narrative for premium post-graduate student living, with the completion of a new scheme located at 16-18 Potterrow in Edinburgh for client Curlew Capital. Discover more! ➡️ https://loom.ly/wrxO3Nc Jasper Sanders FRSA, practice Founder/Director, commented: ‘We believe this project sets a new bar for this sector. Comprised of 151 meticulously-crafted studio apartments spread across six floors, the new residence exudes sophistication and offers a premium living experience, which has been especially tailored for post- graduate students. The scheme clearly responds to the progressive city of Edinburgh, as well as to Scotland itself, through subtle cues that evoke the surrounding landscape and architectural fabric of the city’s great cultural history.’ #commercialinteriors
