The final day of our Global Conference was another remarkable one. Our third keynote speaker, Jonathan Pain, delivered a thought-provoking talk on how economic and geopolitical disruptions intertwine and shape our world. His perspective on the emerging global landscape and the 'Axis of Autocracy' left everyone with a great deal to think about. Next, it was time to explore more of what Syndey has to offer, and a number of our delegates bravely climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge – certainly one to tick off the bucket list! To mark the end of a fantastic week, the Farewell Gala took place at the stunning Art Gallery NSW. It wouldn’t be a DFK conference without an incredible gala venue, and of course, this year was no exception. We would like to thank our delegates for making the trip to Sydney and for their continued engagement, willingness to share knowledge and expertise with one another, and their commitment to embodying the spirit of DFK International – a true global family. JCK & Associates were named as DFK Asia Pacific Firm of the Year 2024, with their award presented by Cheree Woolcock, Vice President of the APAC region. Our 2024 Global Conference is well underway, and there’s lots to report! Yesterday, our first keynote speaker, Gihan Perera, took to the stage. Gihan is a business futurist, AI researcher, and author, who shared insights on how to stay fit for the future in a fast-changing world. He highlighted the importance of re-engaging with clients, the need to lead through uncertainty, and the significant benefits of leveraging diversity within your team. During the DFK International - Asia Pacific (APAC) breakout session, Angela Yu from CIB Leading Accountants & Business Advisers, Australia, and Dorothy Wong from JCK & Associates, Hong Kong, were honoured with the Rising Star Award. Both recipients are valuable members of the APAC Emerging Leaders Subcommittee, and their contributions to the region are highly valued. Huge congratulations to you both! Later, Drew Bernstein, Co-Chairman of Marcum Asia CPAs LLP, delivered an insightful talk on the impact of rising geopolitical tensions on the flow of capital, trade, and expertise across borders, the APAC Emerging Leaders committee launched their first newsletter, and Nigel Jacobs and Francesco Nicolini presented to delegates from their respective DFK regions. In the afternoon, everyone enjoyed some well-deserved downtime with a scenic cruise around Sydney Harbour, followed by an evening reception at the iconic Sydney Opera House!
