We have over 130 trained volunteer Mental Health First Aiders here at DLG. They support our People Leaders and colleagues by sign-posting tools and resources. But what makes someone want to become an MHFA? We asked Amelia Gawthrop to explain: She tells us, “I’m passionate about mental health because it plays such a huge part in all our lives. Taking care of our mental health is so important, and I love being in a position where I can help or support my colleagues”. But how does Amelia take care of her own mental health? “One of the things I do is practice mindful breathing. Whenever I feel stressed or overwhelmed, I take a minute to focus on my breath, which helps me centre myself. Sometimes, I listen to podcasts, and I’ve also started gratitude journaling in the evenings, which means regularly writing down things you're grateful for. This could be as simple as appreciating a sunny day, a supportive conversation with a friend, or a personal achievement. The idea is to intentionally focus on the positives rather than the negatives, helping to shift your mindset toward a more optimistic perspective”. #MentalHealth #MentalHealthAwareness #MHFA #SupportEachOther #PositiveMindset

A staggering 1 in 6 people consider leaving work due to a lack of support in relation to menopause. At DLG, we’ve partnered with The Menopause Charity to raise awareness of this issue and its potential impact on people in the workplace. We’ve also created Pause Together, our internal support network, where colleagues can share stories, ask questions, and feel empowered to thrive during menopause. DLG Life Strand Lead, Yvette Speed, explains, “It’s important to view the physical and mental impacts felt by those experiencing perimenopause, andropause, and menopause as workplace issues that we can all play a role in supporting. We are pleased to announce that today Jane Poole joins the Group as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). She has been appointed to the Board and will also sit on the Investment Committee, bringing with her extensive financial leadership and insurance expertise to the team. Most recently, Jane served as CFO for Aviva’s UK and Ireland General Insurance business, where she played a pivotal role in driving business performance and improving profitability. Her career includes senior roles at RSA Insurance Group, including CFO for its UK & International businesses where she led the establishment of a Global Finance Centre, overseeing a team of 350 finance professionals focused on driving strategic change and delivering strong financial results.
